Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.7 - The 7.7-inch Wonder

6/12/2012 11:59:12 AM

Peer into outer space with Samsung's delightful GALAXY Tab 7.7

You're probably not the only one getting confused with Samsung's various tablets of various screen sizes, which is most likely why you've not heard too much of the GALAXY Tab 7.7. And that's quite unfortunate, because the GALAXY Tab 7.7 is, quite rightly, one of the best Android tablets out there right now.

Description: Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.7

7.7-inch is an odd screen size, but it makes a good sense when you've gotten hands on it. This device fits just rightly on one hand and is that perfect size between portability and display enjoyment. The tablet is also solidly built, which is mostly thanks to its brushed-metal back. On the sides you'll find the microSD and SIM card slots, as well as the power/lock and the volume buttons.

But the crux of the GALAXY Tab 7.7's design is its gorgeous super AMOLED LED screen, which not only gives a bright, brilliant and crisp display, but also manages a 1280 x 800 and 196ppi resolution, translating every sharp detail of images and videos. Combined with its decent audio performance, the Tab 7.7 makes for an excellent content-consumption machine.

Powered by a 1.4GHz dual core processor, the Tab 7.7 manages a snappy performance. It will run HD movies and apps and games with minimum hitches; the hitches being a few occasional hangs and low frame-rate. Running Android 3.2 with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface layered over it, you'll find the user experience here to be quite enjoyable.

The one only thing that stains the Tab 7.7's overall excellence is its camera. While it's not surprising to find a subpar camera being mounted on a tablet, the Tab 7.7's camera could certainly do better. Pictures turn out rather bland and are barely sharp enough. You'll be glad to know, though, that the battery life here is pretty good.
