Windows 8 : Customizing the Appearance of Windows - Setting Up Lock Screen Apps

By default, Windows 8 displays the date and time from the Calendar app, as well as notifications of any new messages from Messaging and Mail on your Lock screen. You can also choose to display the Weather app by using the steps in this section.

Choose Lock Screen Apps

  1. Press Windows logo key+C to display charms.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Change PC Settings.

  4. Click Personalize.

  5. Click Lock Screen if it’s not already selected.

  6. Click a button with a + symbol.

  7. Click an app.

Tip

To stop displaying an item on the Lock screen, click an item in the Lock Screen Apps area and then click Don’t Show Quick Status Here.
