HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw - Print from The Clouds

5/13/2012 11:33:00 AM

The HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw opens up a new plethora of printing options

The technology was first unveiled last year to showcase HP's capabilities on utilising the cloud for printing purposes. While the first ePrint prototypes were built in large format and enterprise-scaled printers, the technology has now been perfected and implemented into smaller scale printers, and one such printer is the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw.

The CM1415fnw is a multifunction printer (MFP) that is capable of printing, scanning and faxing documents. The CM1415fnw is decked in a black and white chassis that looks unassuming in most office spaces. Being a laser printer, the CM1415fnw has a print count of 12 pages per minute (ppm) for black and white prints, 8ppm for colour prints, with a first page out of 25 seconds and 30 seconds for monochrome and colour printouts respectively.

Its print speed might not be too fast, but what it lacks in speed more than makes up for it in other ways. Take for instance the multifunctional LCD touchpad. All of the printer's settings can be accessed from this panel, and there is also a built-in report system that prints out reports ranging from your network settings to toner cartridge levels.

Speaking of connectivity, the CM1415fnw is capable of connecting to the Internet via LAN and Wi-Fi. Installing the printer through the network is a cinch, with you only needing the IP address of the printer that is connected on the network, while the installer will do the rest.

More significantly, the internet connectivity allows the printer to be connected to HP's ePrint cloud printing service, which is a service that allows its users to connect to any ePrint-enabled printer around the world with your laptop or smartphone device.

Permissions and whitelists can be set to ensure that printers aren't being abused by people from outside of your company or unauthorised party. Similarly, there are also printing centres worldwide that offer ePrint services with HP printers.
