For small businesses or workgroups requiring
print, copy and scan functionality the MB461 is a robust Multi-function Printer
(MFP) with great features that add control. In addition, this is a striking
option for the budget conscious businesses.

It lacks the fax features from its other
cousins (OKI MB 470 and OK MB 480) but if there is no need for the faxing
ability, this affordable MFP should be attractive enough. The question now is:
how attractive is the OKI MB 461?
1. Saving Space
Its design is like your typical MFP out
there but this is a much smaller and portable version of it. Being small, it
can fit practically anywhere in a room without taking too much space. The top
part is where you can put in paper to scan or photocopy. Below it is where the
photocopied or printed paper comes out. All the way at the bottom is where the
paper tray is located. Given that the printer is kind of small, it is easy to
move it around but the MB461 still needs at minimum two people to carry for
safety purposes.

2. Obeep-Beep
If you are not familiar with the title,
that's the sound made by Looney Toons' Road Runner. Yes, the MB461 prints very
fast. Whether or not it is just a word document or an image file, it prints
everything quickly. Even photocopying is done quickly. The MB461 manages to
produce 50 photocopied papers in less than two minutes and print ten image
files in less than a minute. That being said, it can handle office work pretty
well.

3. Satisfactory Quality
Output quality for the MB460 is par for
graphics and photos for a mono laser MFP, and the quality for text drops just a
little. As long as you don't have an unusual need for tiny fonts, you shouldn't
have any complaints. Graphics quality on my tests was good enough for any
internal business need, including PowerPoint handouts. You may also consider it
good enough to hand out to important clients and customers, depending on how
much of a perfectionist you are.

4. Make Things Complicated
While printing images and word documents, I
found it a bit of a letdown that there is no option for auto-orientation. That means
that I have to manually select whether I want my files printed in landscape or
portrait. The printer has various ways to scan from an FTP server or shared
folder to scan directly to email. The email bit is convenient as you can send
scans to other PCs as attachments. However, all of these workarounds need
manual setup, and if you're not educated enough to be your own IT department,
you'll likely have trouble with it. Even the user guide didn't help.
