Lenovo is only 0.7kg heavy and 22mm thin but
it has complete connectors and a nice design plus the price of only $310.
Q180
is just a little larger than a usual notebook
Introduced by the beginning of this year, the
world’s smallest desktop from Lenovo has a RRP of $310. The product impresses
us with its compact design which is equivalent to the size of an external
optical drive or 3.5-inch mobile HDD. The model seizes 155x192x22mm and weighs
only 0.7kg. It is completely suitable for narrow space like stalls, reception
desks and serves public entertainment devices.
Users can either use the product as a
common desktop or connect it to a TV to form a home HTPC entertainment center. Thus,
the desktop is equipped with an optical audio port, ports for HDMI and VGA, 7.1
audio output and Dolby Home Theater v4 technology. The product also has either
a dock for standing on tables or a case for wall-mounting.
The
dock is suitable for narrow space
The front and back finishes are all made of
glossy black plastic but easy to get scratched and dust or sweat, which
requires lots of carefulness from users when keeping the desktop. The model
feels sturdy in hand due to its metal case though gives a comfort feeling. Lenovo
puts the power button in the corner next to status lights.
IdeaCentre Q180’s specs consist of an Intel
Atom D2700 processor (2.13GHz), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB HDD and AMD Radeon
6450A VGA (512MB of VRAM). With this equipment, the device is quite capable of
play Full HD movies and some games as well. The local version doesn’t have an
inbox Blu-ray optical drive.
The
compact design is easily carried
Because of its compact design, Q180 has its
ports placed sideways in two opposite edges. In the back are Kensington lock,
AC power slot, ports for LAN, HDMI, VGA, 4 USB 2.0 connectors and port for
optical audio. In the front having internal cap are 5-in-1 card reader, 2 USB
3.0 connectors, and headphone and microphone jacks. In both sides left are heat-eliminating
grids. Our test has shown that this desktop installed Windows 8 fast and the
heat-eliminating bars got rather hot.
Like normal laptops, there’s an inbox
laptop charger (compatible with Lenovo G5470) functioning as a power supplier.
This equipment enhances the model’s compactness because there’s requirement for
inside power supplier and transformer as well.
IdeaCentre Q180 comes along with no OS to
keep the price low.
