By adding the Android app to ELAN g! The system can now be controlled from virtually any smartphone or tablet available today. The security/access functions of g! Modern day: Switch craft

Switch HDMI content from up to four source devices, such as an HD Digibox, PC, games console and Blu-ray or DVD, to one HDTV or projector screen with Smart-e’s new series of SXHD digital switches.

As Jon Lane, Smart-e’s managing director says: “The ability to swap content between PowePoint presentations, video, TV, computer information and games consoles, enables differing audiences to be targeted with specific broadcasts at certain times, making it a perfect solution for restaurants and bars, shops, reception areas, meeting rooms, lecture halls, conference centers and home cinemas.”

The Surrey-based AV designer and manufactured has designed the new HDMI splitters (SXHD-400 and SXHD-200) for applications where only one HDMI connection is available on the display, such as the new range of HDTVs. Source selection is via a front panel button and Infra-red control allowing content to be switched remotely.

Fully HDMI and HDCP compliant the SXHD series distributes video images up to 1080p or 1920x1200, and is capable of data rates up to 6.75Gpbs including 3D. Embedded HD audio is automatically routed within the

HDMI signals and supports digital audio formats LPCM/Dolby-AC3/DTS7.1/DSD. The display can be located up to six-meters from the source devices.

Powered by a single DC supply, the units can be mounted in a standard 19-inch cabinet and feature an easy plug and play installation method. Two switches are available, the SXHD- 400 featuring four inputs and one output, whilst the SXHD-200 is a two input and one output version for smaller applications.

The Real X Factor

The premier provider of unified control and automation solutions, AMX, has announced the immediate availability of its 4.3-inch Modero X Series Touch Panels (MXD-430). The smallest of the multi-award winning touch panel family, the MXD-430 maintains the innovative capabilities and next generation aesthetics which have now become synonymous with the Modero X Series. While the MXD-430 is a full-featured touch panel that delivers automation and control inside any conference room, it also boasts new levels of functionality which make it equally well suited for use outside a meeting room as a visual tool for scheduling. Programmable red and green LEDs on both sides of the panel make it easy to look down a hall and determine which rooms are occupied or available.

Like all Modero X Series touch panels, the 4.3-inch model is packed with features and functionality such as multi-touch capabilities, gesturing, swiping and tapping that mobile phone and tablet users have become so comfortable using. Also onboard are advanced communications technologies like support for Near Field Communications (NFC), Bluetooth connections and video streaming. Other technologies that elevate it above the competition include in-plane switching glass, which offers 80 degree viewing for exceptional resolution, vivid coloring and extremely sharp images – indispensable features for a screen of this size. And, for installation convenience, its PoE feature ensures only a single cable is required for power and data.

We hear it every day from AV consultants, architects and corporate dealers: ‘Meetings continue to carve out more and more of the workday and squeezing every minute out of every meeting is crucial. We need a way to reduce potentially wasted time such as finding a free room when an impromptu meeting comes up,’” said Robert N., AMX Chief Technology Officer. “The solution of a confirmation LED was actually a minor design change but is having a major impact on our customers’ reactions. Now, end users can simply glance down the hall and locate a free room. The MXD-430 is not only increasing device, room and building efficiencies but is also significantly increasing workplace productivity at the same time.

With the release of the MXD-430 4.3-inch model, the complete line of Modero X Series Touch Panels is now available. The other models include the 20.3-inch and 19.4-inch panoramic and the 10.1-inch and 7-inch widescreens.
