It’s time to think of Android Ice Cream
Sandwich and the following budget tablets are ready for the new operating
system.
1. Huawei Mediapad
Huawei
Mediapad
What
is the story?
With 7inch (17.8cm) size, Huawei is not the
slimmest in this list but it has a manually aluminum-made case looking elegant
and fit in palm. Moreover, that quality is delivered into the IPS screen which
owns 1,280x800 pixel resolutions, leading to make the display really clear and
sharp.
Is
that Ice cream or a mess?
Being pricier than Kindle Fire sharing the
same size, Mediapad looks cooler and more versatile with its small but amazing screen.
However, you only receive an Android’s basic interface with no common apps. Furthermore,
8GB storage will be quickly filled up and the processor’s performance is just
mediocre. Despite all, there’s an integrated 3G Modem, which makes this tablet
a good value.

If you are looking for a compact tablet,
Mediapad should be a good choice.

2. Archos 10.1 G9 Turbo
Archos
10.1 G9 Turbo
What
is the story?
With a dual-core processor (1.5GHz), the
10.1icnh (25.7cm) G9 Turbo of Archos becomes the fastest as well as the most
budget tablet in this list. However, its design is not nice at all because the
plastic finish makes it look cheaper than other Android tablets. Besides, when
compared to other Android devices, this tablet’s cheaper TN panel delivers fewer
colors.
Is
that Ice cream or a mess?
Like other Android ones, the tablet concentrates
on media playing thanks to graphic chip accelerating 1,080p video via HDMI
output. However, the better are custom video/music players with the help of
UPnP and default shared folders as well as ability of supporting of most
formats.
Though, Turbo’s processor is not worth
being upgraded and it ruins battery’s runtime.

This tablet is great for media playing but
we prefer a better display to a faster processor.

3. Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition
Motorola
Xoom 2 Media Edition
What
is the story?
This Motorola tablet can rival great others
with regard to design. It is extremely slim with back aluminum lid and you
can’t help falling in love with these rounded corners. Besides, the IPS panel
appears excellent and faster than that of Archos.
Is
that Ice cream or a mess?
For us, the 8.2inch/20.8cm screen of Xoom 2
ME makes it a perfect compromise between the 10inch/25.4cm screen size and the
model’s versatility. Basically, it is just a simplified version of
10.1icnh/25.7cm Xoom 2. On the other hand, lack of SD slot and 3G connectivity
seems against this tablet’s perfection but this can’t prevent this model from
being one of today’s best Android tablets.
