Portable Elecom LBT MPSPP50 Speakers

6/7/2013 9:08:05 AM

Though not really impressive by the look, this portable 2.0 speaker set has the overall sound quality quite attractive.

LBT-MPSPP50 is the name of the portable speaker product by Elecom, the company which specializes in manufacturing components, computer accessories and speakers from Japan. The LBT-MPSPP50 also has a compact external cylindrical shape (with the size of 65x54.6 mm, weight about 200g) – which is quite suitable for mobile users’ demand. In addition to the version using red - black tones, the LBT-MPSPP50 also has two other versions that use a combination of two contrasting colors: white – red and white – silver.

The Elecom LBT-MPSPP50 supports Bluetooth 3.0 wireless connectivity.

A special feature of this portable speaker 2.0 is the ability to connect wirelessly (through Bluetooth 3.0) and the two integrated audio apt-X and AAC codecs which allow “performing” sound quality at the best and the lowest latency in the transmission through the radio frequency (2.4 GHz). With this feature, the LBT-MPSPP50 is compatible with wireless devices such as tablets, smartphones today.

The speakers can also be connected to the audio source equipped with TRS outputs (3.5 mm).

In addition to the ability to play music wirelessly, the LBT-MPSPP50 can also connect to other audio sources equipped with TRS outputs (3.5 mm) easily. Once separated, the underside of each component of the LBT-MPSPP50 speakers is also equipped with soft rubber feet to reduce vibration when playing music. The two component speakers can also easily "bond" together by the bottom speaker which is also equipped with magnets, which is quite handy during the move.

Regarding technical specifications, the LBT-MPSPP50 can meet the frequency range from 20Hz to 15,000Hz. The device supports Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP profiles, which allow stereo audio playback formats. The Li-Polymer battery with 650mAh capacity has the playback time of about 6 hours when fully charged (from the company’s information). In particular, within each of the component speaker of this portable speaker 2.0, there is also a passive radiator equipped, in order to improve the quality of the speakers’ bass notes.

Through actual use, the LBT-MPSPP50 has the pretty quick wireless speed connections. However, compared to the limited number of control buttons, users may experience some difficulties in manipulating "paired" speakers with mobile sources familiar with the new equipment. The LBT-MPSPP50’s overall sound quality is quite warm, with wide sound space and good loudness as the source volume is set at 50%. At low volume settings, the range of treble and bass speakers is somewhat fuzzy. However, with almost maximum volume, the LBT-MPSPP50 still has no sound distortion or vibration speaker neck like some other portable speakers.
