Value

With the price of $928.5 for the body only, the 700D’s launch price is much lower than the 650D’s price of $1048.5 when it was first introduced in less than a year ago. This makes the 700D really worth an investment.

Other products that have similar specifications and are now available on the market include the Pentax K-30 (weather sealed), the Nikon D5200 (24MP), Sony Alpha A65 (GPS), and also its predecessor the Canon EOS 600D, which is still an ideal selection and more valuable in money. Currently, as people are believing more in mirror less camera manufacturers marketing, these Digital SLRs would also fight a hard battle with the “Digital SLM” models, especially those that have integrated electronic viewfinders such as the 16 MP Panasonic Lumix G5, G6 (with Wi-Fi), and 20 MP Samsung NX20 (with Wi-Fi).

A memory card and a case or bag would also be necessary to keep your camera safe and protected. Have a look at our detail instruction about camera bags.

Conclusion

The Canon EOS 700D, just like its predecessor the 650D, is an excellent Digital SLR which is able to produce magnificent shots, good exposure, many options including HDR, night shot, 5fps continuous shooting, DIGIC 5 processor, and the Q. menu allowing you to access and adjust settings and options in such easy and quick way. The touchscreen performs very well, easy to use and response quickly as well as working accurately in choosing options in menu. The high resolution 3 inch screen with 1040k dot is another bonus.

The Canon EOS 700D, just like its predecessor the 650D, is an excellent Digital SLR.

The Canon EOS 700D, just like its predecessor the 650D, is an excellent Digital SLR.

The 700D owns moderate number of updates and innovations compared to the 650D, which motivate us and other people eager to find out about them. Of course, improved features are always welcome, but for those who expect an enormous difference between the 650D and the 700d would be disappointed. The ISO performance are improved very slightly in this new model, but if you have already owned a 650D, there would be no significant reason for you to made this upgrade.

The 700D offers an innovative case and design, a new mode dial, improved live view with preview on creative filters, and new gird display as well as enhanced video options, which now allows the use of ISO12800. An amazing performance of the new STM kit lens delivers excellent result with quiet focus and good macro shooting performance for such lens, although still, there are things that need improving. They are the slow live view focus and the lens is larger than the model it replaces. If you buy new and have an older Canon EOD, or are looking for the first Digital SLR for you, the Canon EOS 700D will be a wonderful choice.
