Dell Latitude E6230 – The Workstation For The Workaholic

Whilst Ultrabooks may be all the rage these days, there still remains a segment of the market that insists on wanting a solidly built laptop for work purposes, one that doesn't have all the fancy new tech and just simply works and is reliable on all occasions. Enter the Dell Latitude E6230 business notebook.

The E6230 is all about substance over style. That is not to say that the E6230's brushed aluminum back and silver hard plastic lining isn't very pretty, but it's just enough to convince users that it is indeed a solidly built machine. The I/O ports include three USB ports, two of which are SuperSpeed USB 3.0, and one USB 2.0 port which also doubles as an e-SATA port. HDMI and VGA output ports are also present, together with SD card and ExpressCard slots. There is also a LAN port at the back for cabled Internet connection. Having an optical drive would be nice, though.

The 12.5-inch anti-glare LED backlit display works wonders in ensuring that the screen doesn't reflect light too much, giving users a brighter and crisper display that doesn't hurt the eyes too much even after long working hours.

Speaking of long working hours, the E6230's 6-cell battery is capable of providing users with up to six hours of battery life, with Wi-Fi on and brightness turned to Auto, which is pretty good for the travelling businessman, in our opinion.

Powered by Intel's 3rd Generation Core processor, the E6230 is not a slouch when it comes to crunching numbers and processing power. As a matter of fact the E6230 does it so well that the notebook only heats up a little from processor-intensive processes, thanks to its heat ventilation unit at the sides of the notebook.

The E6230 also comes with preinstalled made-for-business applications, which are nice to use and have.

Description: It comes with the ports you need, though having USB 3.0 would be great.

Comment

All in all, the Dell Latitude E6320 is a very solid and well-made notebook, perfect for businessmen who move in and about town on a constant basis. The long-ish battery life makes it a great notebook to use for meetings and presentations as well, without having to worry about it running out of juice.
