For our 3D gaming build, we needed a
motherboard that would provide stable performance to handle our overclock and
heavy gaming loads. The Z77 MPOWER is a perfect fit, because MSI runs a Prime 95
burn-in test at the factory for 24 hours-on every board-with an Ivy Bridge
Processor that’s been overclocked to at least 4.6GHz. MSI also builds in a

Enhanced Phase Cooling
The heat sinks around the processor are
built with MSI’s Military Class III technology, which is designed to meet the
DoD’s MIL-STD-810G standard that ensures performance under temperature,
humidity, pressure, vibration, and shock. The heat sink’s passive design is
great for reliable performance with our liquid cooler, because it can cool the
VRMs when there’s no airflow from the CPU cooler.
System controls
MSI’s ClickBIOS II UEFI and Windows
interfaces make it easy to manage overclocks, fan speeds, and other setting.
You can store all of your overclocking profiles on the PC or a flash drive, so
it’s easy to switch between them or share the configuration with friends,
ClickBIOS II also lets you run driver updates, BIOS updates, and system backup for
quick system revisions. All of the fan headers on the board are 4-pin PWM for
optimal fan speed/noise management. On-board buttons for MSI’s OC GENIE, reset,
and power provide convenient control during builds, installs, and testing.
Additional Features
MSI also obviates the need to invest in
Bluetooth (3.0+HS) and Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) add-ons, because the Z77 MPOWER
ships with hardware for both technologies. A PS/2 port provides compatibility
with high-end gaming keyboards that use the PS/2 interface. There’s also a bevy
of USB 3.0 ports (six rear, two front), PCI-E x1 slots (four), and 6GBps SATA
ports (two with RAID support). For quality sound, the Z77 MPOWER includes a 7.1
HD subsystem that feature THX TruStudio Pro.
