Performance

Mark 2011
Test
with 3D Mark 2011
ASUS GeForce GTX 660 Ti achieved its
victory in 3D Mark 2011, left the pre-overclocked ASUS GeForce GTX 660 behind. At
the second place is Sapphire Radeon HD 7870. And at the bottom of the chart is HIS
Radeon HD 7850, which is a little slower than GTX 660. This time, we had
results that were almost the same to our prediction. Now, let’s see how it is
when using the latest 3D Mark edition.

Mark 2013
Testing
with 3D Mark 2013
We see the same picture in every situation.
The tested graphics cards aren’t quite different in performance but ASUS
GeForce GTX 660 Ti is formally in the leading position. It is followed by Sapphire
Radeon HD 7870 and the overclocked ASUS GeForce GTX 660. And at its default
clock rates the one at the bottom is HIS Radeon HD 7850.
Metro
2033: The last Refuge
Testing
with Metro 2033
The graphics cards are not quite different
in Metro 2033: The Last Refuge. You need to note that, unlike in the two prior
tests, the overclocked ASUS GeForce GTX 660 is ahead of its elder cousin.
Total
War: SHOGUN 2 – Fall Of The Samurai
Testing
with Total War
Nvidia’s updated drivers bring performance
improvements in games, including Total War: Shogun 2. As a result, GeForce’s
products seem better than Radeons. ASUS GeForce GTX 660 is ahead of Radeon HD
7870, having an additional advantage at 1920x1080 resolution. The HD 7870
competes with the ASUS GeForce GTX 660 but defeated when we enable
antialiasing. The HIS Radeon HD 7850 ranks last place in test session.
Crysis
2
Test
with Crysis 2
Crysis 2 shows that there’s little
difference between same-class products. You can order the cheapest one, HIS
Radeon HD 7850, thanks to the reason that it is ahead of the Sapphire Radeon HD
7870 in practical test modes.
Battlefield
3
Test
with Battlefield 3
Battlefield 3 ranks the graphics cards based
on their price. ASUS GeForce GTX 660 Ti is ahead, followed by Sapphire Radeon
HD 7870 and the overclocked ASUS GeForce GTX 660. At default clock rates, the
latter products are slightly faster than HIS Radeon HD 7850. Results from
Battlefield 3 are a good illustration of the relation in performance of these
cards in general.
Sniper
Elite V2 Benchmark
Test
with Sniper Elite V2 Benchmark
AMD platform solutions have strong
influence in Sniper Elite V2. Today, 2 Radeons are easily ahead of their Nvidia-based
opponents, although the heat-sink slots are smaller.
Sleeping
dogs
Radeon product lines continue to be the
better one in this game:

2012
Test
with F1 2012
Obviously we’ll have different standing
positions on the race depending on the game’s image quality. Nvidia’s
entry-level products are faster with antialiasing off, but Radeons is faster as
we enable 8x MSAA feature.
Borderlands
2
The two graphics cards from ASUS are invincible
in Borderlands:
Test
with Borderlands 2
The options are very obvious if you’re a
fan of this game.
Hitman:
Absolution
Test
with Hitman: Absolution
The products seems alike to each other in
Hitman: Absolution, especially at the most resource-consuming mode (2560x1440
with antialiasing). The only problem here is that Nvidia products don’t have low
speed as expected, at 1920x1080 resolution with antialiasing.
Conclusion
It’s rare to have a content about a CPU,
cooler, motherboard, SSD and graphics card that is perfect in our test
sessions, but today is a such that kind of date.
ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II OC 2GB
shows the main trend in graphics card, bringing out examples for other
manufacturers to follow. It’s got an advanced PCB with durable components, a
pre-overclocked GPU with the ability to work at high frequency, and an
impressively efficient DirectCU II cooler that can ensure low temperature, extremely
low of noise level.
Of course, we may wish there were more companion
accessories, but, to our last year’s viewpoint, the trend towards fewer companion
accessories is becoming common even with high-end products, i.e. there’s only
one product line if classifying based on accessories. We won’t buy graphics
cards because they have more cables and games. As for the price factor, ASUS GeForce
GTX 660 DirectCU II OC 2GB is 20USD more expensive than a regular GeForce GTX
660. Packed with 3-year warranty, this makes it the best choice among all GTX
660s that are available now
That says we’re very proud with ASUS GeForce
GTX 660 DirectCU II OC 2GB, a noble name and deserve a gold medal from editors’
choice.
