Cache Drive
Many users still use a mechanical
drive for the bulk of their storage, as SSDs can’t compete when it comes to
price per gigabyte.
Speeding up the performance of these
drives is possible by using a small SSD as a cache, but most drives that
support this feature are limited to 64GB in size.
The 240GB RAIDR can be used as a
cache, making it one of the largest cache drives on the market, perfect for
speeding up systems with several Terabytes of mechanical storage.

Software
It wouldn’t be an ASUS product without
plenty of software included in the box, and the RAIDR is no exception. Most
useful of all is the ROG SSD Tweakit suite, which can be used to optimise the
Operating System to run well on the RAIDR drive.
Not only does this software help to
increase performance, but it can substantially extend the lifespan of the
drive. ROG Ramdisk allows unused system memory to be used as a temporary drive,
but with a much faster speed than any other form of storage. Setting up a
Ramdisk is usually very complicated, but the ROG Ramdisk makes it simple enough
for users of all experience levels.
Users with a wealth of mechanical
storage space will find the included HybridDisk software most useful, which
sets up all or part of the RAIDR’s storage space as a cache drive. As mentioned
earlier, this will speed up any actions that use the slower mechanical drive.

CystalDiskMark is one of the most
popular SSD benchmarking programs available, and the RAIDR includes a special
ROG version with matching skin. This is perfect for seeing what the RAIDR can
do, and also for monitoring performance as the drive is filled. Finally, a free
copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus will ensure the RAIDR remains virus-free.
Can I run it?
To make the most of the RAIDR, it’s
advisable to plug this drive into a motherboard which includes UEFI compatibility
and PCI-Express 2.0.
However, it’s compatible with older
motherboards that aren’t UEFI compatible thanks to the unique DuoMode Switch.
PCI Express 2.0 is also backwards compatible with PCI Express, so the drive
will work in PCIe slots, albeit at a slightly slower speed.

If you’re looking for the ultimate in
storage speed to help your DOTA maps load faster or to get into the vehicles at
the start of a round of Battlefield, the ROG RAIDR delivers industry-leading
performance, wrapped in a sexy design that will look beautiful next to the rest
of your ROG arsenal.
