The laptop to replace desktop of Dell offers high performance and really good screen, but the building quality is disappointing.

With massive 17.3-inch Full HD screen, powerful quad-core processor and quick Nvidia graphics, Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition is a high capacity machine.

It looks smart in pictures, but Inspiron 3.34kg is made of plastic entirely. At a close distance, we easily see: the body seems empty and patterned plastic casing brings cheap feeling, the keyboard typing or the creaking buttons of the touchpad leave no doubt about where Dell uses its budget.

All the money has been spent on the inside components. Quad-core Intel processor for laptops has good change in speed - it reached 0.94 results in our tests - and GeForce GT 650M GPU provide power to Crysis test.

With 28fps average speed, when Crysis is running in High detail setting of Full HD, Dell is the powerful gaming machine.

Dell screen is elite and takes advantage of the forest and mountain of Crysis. The 17.3 inch screen is Full HD unit, while the color reproduction is cold, it is bright and has contrast ratio of 664:1.

The 17.3 inch screen is Full HD unit.

Despite the plastic chassis, there are many factors that compensate for this feature. Typing on the keyboard and the Scrabble-tile keys spread out beautifully under your finger. Touchpad is effective with the physical buttons that work more reliable than the integrated buttons on the other laptops in the Labs this month.

Dell's small 4000mAh battery is a disappointment. It only lasted 3 hours 48 minutes in our light using test. We are also disappointed to see that Dell has limited networking capability of the Inspiron - 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11n single frequency wireless is too miserly at this price.

Cheap feeling is our biggest obstacle to big-sized laptop of Dell. 1 year warranty may be enough for many people, but Asus N56VM is changing the speed to get a better building quality and more efficient operation, we will think carefully before spending money.
