As you can see, the Intuition takes the
benefit from a slight increase in most benchmark scores, and we believe that
this is mainly related to the fact that it is running the newer firmware.
However, these results will not be worth comparing to what we usually see on
the more common S4 chips. However, in real-world use, we did not have to
complain much - everything was running smoothly with only an occasional hiccup.
We could easily multitask and playing games were the same. Basically, our
experience with Intuition was rather similar to the one of the Optimus Vu. The
only field we found slow was the browser. While it did not spend much time on
loading pages, we encountered slow scrolling when the phone tried to display
images and text - especially after zooming in and out. A phone this big should
have enough power behind it to make it run long, but the 2080mAh battery was
not simply enough.
Those
who prefer to hold the phones in their right hand will be disappointed by the
location of the speakers when using the Intuition in portrait mode. Because the
speaker grille lies in the lower-left corner of the phone’s backside, it is
located right in the palm of your right hand.
How about the Intuition? The battery has
not changed. Therefore, there is no surprise that it almost performed the same
way. While the Vu only created even full five hours in our intensive video
test, the Intuition attempted to get an extra hour of battery running, bringing
a total of 5 hours and 58 minutes. When talking about the real-life use, you
will get lucky if you make this phone last a full 10-hour workday. It was not
typical when our unit ran out of 20% battery in an hour and a half of surfing
the web and monitoring social media. When talking about making phone calls, we
did not encounter any problems with dropped calls or volume. As you might
expect, the only real concern is holding the phone and pressing it against your
ear. Yes, this is the sort of device that encourages the use of Bluetooth
headphones, since the level of inconvenience is fairly high.
Despite having a mono speaker on the back,
we were amazedly satisfied with the quality found there. We realized that they
were quite loud for our needs, but those who prefer to hold the phones in their
right hand will be disappointed by the location of the speakers when using the
Intuition in portrait mode. Because the speaker grille lies in the lower-left
corner of the phone’s backside, it is located right in the palm of your right
hand. This will certainly cause a case of significant congestion. However,
using the phone in landscape mode for movies, you will probably not see this
concern (as long as you hold it so that the volume buttons face upwards).
As we have mentioned before, the Intuition
also accompanies with MHL compatibility. We were rewarded a "Media
Home" screen by plugging in the array of cables; a simple menu allows you
to choose between videos, music and photos. There is also a convenient exit
button in case you prefer to HDMI mirroring. Everything looked great when we
connected. The Intuition provides Bluetooth 3.0 + HS, and when testing, we were
able to achieve an average file transfer speed of 100-110 KB/s received and 80
KB/s sent. USB file transfers were much different: the phone got files at an
average of 3.26 MB/s and sent them to our MacBook Pro up to 14.07 MB/s.
Finally, the GPS behaved pretty well towards us, locking an accurate position
for 10 seconds and maintaining accuracy within less than 20 feet when we tried to test the navigation system.
Conclusion
We
admitted that the complaints about the width of the Intuition belong to more of
a matter of personal preference and the extra perimeter might suit those who
felt fine.
We admitted that the complaints about the
width of the Intuition belong to more of a matter of personal preference and
the extra perimeter might suit those who felt fine (as long as you have big
hands or enjoy the aspect ratio of 4:3 too much) - however, we would be willing
to give it a pass if the device itself is not so trivial. Unfortunately, the
head-on confrontation between it and the Galaxy Note II did nothing more other
than to convince us that this is not the phablet that Verizon fans have been
expecting. Let's call it a glitch in the Matrix if you want, but we cannot help
feeling that we have seen this phone before.
