Even car manufacturers
are getting in on the act. In what is surely the first of its kind,
local Ferrari agent Ital Auto has commissioned a special-edition
Ferrari to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday this year.
Designed in Ferrari's Tailor-Made customisation department
- which allows clients to create their own bespoke Ferrari - the car
chosen is the fire-breathing F12, a V12 grand tourer and the second
most powerful Ferrari ever.
The one-off car, called the SG50 Ferrari F12berlinetta,
boasts unique and distinctive Singapore- themed embellishments
sprinkled subtly in and around the car.
With the red and white colours of the Singapore flag as
inspiration, the car's paint job is a custom metallic red called Rosso
Singapore, while its front spoiler, side sills, rear diffuser and wing
mirror highlights are finished in Bianco Italia.
To top off the exterior, red wheel caps complement the
special white, star-shaped wheels while a two-toned racing stripe in
the colours of the Singapore flag spans the length of the car.
The theme continues inside, with Tailor-Made racing seats and interior panels also getting the red-and-white treatment.
A lion crest is embroidered on the seats' headrest, and a
logo with the words "Singapore 50th Anniversary Edition 1/1" is painted
on the steering wheel and inner door sills.
Ferrari has made commemorative models for its dealer
anniversaries in the past (the F60 America to celebrate Ferrari's 60th
year in the United States, for instance), but this is the first time a
car has been commissioned for a country's birthday.
The exclusivity comes at a price, though. The SG50 Ferrari
F12berlinetta is expected to cost 20 to 30 per cent more than a
standard F12.
