ISO noise performance

Image samples on different ISOs

Image samples on different ISOs

Noise is low at ISO 80, 100 and 200. The images become washed out at ISO 400 and once more at ISO 800. One more time, the washed out images are more detailed in ISO 1600. At ISO 3200 there’s a little blurred at the contrast zone, this is worse at ISO 6400, but image quality is good at higher ISO, especially for online sharing.

White balance performance

Under incandescent light, AWB has strong orange color, with well-performed pre-installed incandescent light. AWB performs even better, with pre-settings having a slightly brighter color.

Cost

Canon Powershot N is available at $409. If the camera design itself seduce you, you will need to fight to find any replacement, but you’re on a hunt for a camera with the same Wi-Fi and magnification level, we have Nikon Coolpix S800c coming at $ 267, Canon IXUS 255 HS at $320, Sony Cybershot DSC-WX200 with the price of $244, Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ5 with the price of $152 and Samsung WB30 with the price of $183. All of these cameras have 10x optical zoom. When comparing to other cameras, Powershot N seems to be quite expensive.

You also need to buy a memory card and a bag or case to keep the camera safe and protected – let’s take a look at our full instruction about camera bag.

Rating

Canon Powershot N seems to be good and creates nice pictures, but it’s too expensive. You can pay less and have more zoom and Wi-Fi, such as Canon IXUS 255 HS. Canon has sacrificed the traditional zoom and shutter, reduced the flash size significantly and the battery life is low. Other features, such as touch screen and integrated Wi-Fi are good, as well as image quality, even in higher ISO, therefore, there’s enough reason to explicate for buying it, if you have enough budget.
