Processing
The Canon IXUS 255 HS houses a metal body,
small and light enough to easily carry in your pocket, but there's nothing to
support the handle. The back of the camera is a sliding bar that lets us go
straight to the Hybrid Auto mode. The other modes are selected from the menu
when not staying in the Auto mode Hybrid. There are also movie record, playback
and menu buttons as well as a d-pad with the function / set in the middle. The
d-pad allows quick access when pressed to macro, flash, display and exposure
compensation. The latter also enables Wi-Fi during playback.

It is easy to use the menu system. To
adjust the camera settings, press the function button, which makes the
available options displayed along the left hand side, then you need to use the d-pad
to surf through. The remaining settings of the camera appear via the menu
button. The 3-inch screen is bright and clear, with a good 460K dot resolution.
To use the Wi-Fi you need to access to
playback and press the Wi-Fi button (which also works as the exposure
compensation button while shooting). The screen appears to show you a variety
of available options, represented by symbols - especially easy to understand
from the beginning. Moreover, the Canon application is easy to use so as to
upload photos and videos from the camera.

The battery life is rated at 220 images
based on CIPA testing results, if you regularly use the Wi-Fi; you are able to
run the battery down quite fast and therefore you may want to carry a spare
battery. We took numerous pictures to check the responsiveness of the camera,
from switch to the first picture, capturing each image, the shutter speed etc.
We took some pictures and then used the average to ensure these tests that are
accurate and consistent, making comparisons with other cameras easier.
