Pet
Portrait | 1/250 sec | f/4.6 | 10.4 mm | ISO 200
Images are well presented and have
incredible color reproduction, with the very pleasing blue and green at the
landscape shots. The portraits have nice skin tones and no red-eye.

Macro

The details at the center of the images are
good but they’re more washed-out at the corners, especially at the left edge,
and there’s a purple border at the contrast zone. The lens has min focusing
distance of 5cm which allows you to match toward for taking a nice macro shot.
ISO
noise performance
Sample
shots on different ISOs
Noise level is low at ISO125 and 200 with a
significant increment in noise caused image to loose sharpness at ISO400. Images
turns more washed-out, with the detail lost in ISO800 and lost more at ISO1600.
This one more time becomes worse at ISO3200, causing very washed-out images,
but if for sharing images on the web, that doesn’t matter.
White
balance
Under
incandescent light
Under
fluorescent light
Under the incandescent light inside a
studio, auto white balance performs well, with the images being much similar
when shooting with incandescent preset. Under fluorescent light, AWB is pretty
fine, the fluorescent light creates old-color stain.
Panorama
mode
180
Panorama | 1/2000 sec | f/3.6 | 5.1 mm | ISO 125
The panorama image has clear and
well-attached details, though the example above has a small problem in terms of
unity. We have tried to shoot 360-degree panorama but a typical black bar
appears on one side because the camera can’t take 360degree shot.

Here’re some special effects that can be
applied when shooting, with the example above. You can retouch your images

Value
Nikon Coolpix S9500 hits the shelves at $375.
Other pocket cameras with the same amount of zoom should be taken on account
are Sony Cybershot-HX20V GPS at $350, Olympus SH-50 at $375, Sony Cybershot
DSC-WX300 (Wi-Fi) at $420, Canon Powershot SX280 HS (Wi-Fi & GPS) at $450,
Fujifilm FinePix F900EXR (Wi-Fi) at $465 và Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40 (Wi-Fi) at
$465.
You also need to buy a memory card and a
sleeve or a bag to keep you camera safe and protected – take a look at our
instruction for the camera bag.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a travel camera, but
prefer one that can fit your pocket, Nikon Coolpix S9500 is worth for
consideration. It has a flexible 22x optical zoom lens which is ideal for
landscape shooting and zooming in for a close-up viewing angle. GPS allows you
to tag the geographic location onto the image which then you can share through
a mobile device thanks to the support of Wi-Fi to adjust and upload onto Facebook
social network…image quality is not perfect, but good enough and the camera
comes with a quite fair price.
