Firefox 11
Auto syncing browser updates
Users of Firefox on multiple computers will
be aware of the annoying process that requires installation of important
updates to be repeated on all computers. This issue has been done away with on
the new version, Firefox 11 and later. You just need a Firefox Sync account,
which the browser makers now offer to users, and can easily be set up.
For syncing, open "Extras |
Settings" and click on the 'Sync' icon. Now, in the combination field
"Synchronize", activate the option "Add-ons". On
non-synchronized computers, you will instead see the link 'Set up Firefox
Sync'. Here, select "I have an account". The following page presents
a three part code. Now switch to the main computer that you will be using, and
click the link: "Pair a device". Now enter the code from the second
computer and click on "Next". After checking and verifying the code,
both computers will be connected through the Sync account. If you do not have
the computers right next to each other then select the option "I don't
have the device with me" or write down the code so you can activate the
secondary computers later. Close the dialog with "OK". Now, all
Firefox updates on the main computer’ will automatically be reflected on all
the other computers synced with it, and you will not be prompted all the time.
Firefox
sync integrates additional devices and synchronizes updates across various
computers.

Controlling your activities on Facebook
The Facebook timeline has one very useful
feature in the form of the activity log. This log will display your activities
on Facebook right from the time you signed up. This includes everything, right
from status updates, likes, pictures, comments, pages, etc. You can also see
whom the content has been shared with too.
To view the activity log, go to your
profile and click on the 'Activity Log' tab located just below your cover
image. You can view your activities by year or by month from the ’Year’ tab
located on the right. Facebook will then display your activity log for that
particular year or month in that year.
Alternatively, if you click on the 'All'
option, which you will find in the upper right corner, you can select what type
of activity you want to view, such as photos or pages or likes.
Once you have selected a particular
activity, you can then view who has access to it and then can even exclude it
from your timeline. You can even change the visibility of the post You also
have the option to highlight certain posts, which will then be displayed
prominently on your timeline.
The
activity log will display your activity patterns over the years.

Google+
Prevent of sharing of messages with other
people
Sharing information is one of the main functions
of Google+. However, it allows you to create personal circles and send private
messages. To do so, click on the small arrow next to the recipients' box before
sending. Here, click on "Lock this post" and confirm with
"Save". This will disable the recipients from sharing your content
further with the rest of the Internet. Google+ denotes this setting with a
small padlock. Another option that you will see is 'Disable Comments', which as
the name suggests, will not allow any comments to be posted on your update.
This will prevent against hooligans, bullies or pranksters. However, in this
case, recipients can still share your post.

Facebook
Secure your profile from intruders and
hackers
Most users browsing social networking sites
on wireless LAN networks often transfer data without any encryption. This
practice can be a potential security risk as hackers can access your account or
sensitive information by simply using an App or a browser add-on. However,
Facebook gives you an option to encrypt the data sent up and down when logged
in, as a security measure. To activate this, open the Facebook page and log in.
Right- click on the upper menu list and select "Account Settings",
and on the next page, click on the "Security" category.
Here, click on "Edit" next to
'Secure Browsing' and activate the box 'Browse Facebook on a secure connection
(https) when possible' and save the changes. Next, if you select "Login
Notifications", you will have to confirm your identity, and the stored credentials
allow you to be notified via text message or e-mail whenever your account is
accessed from a computer or mobile device that you haven't used before. Confirm
and save your changes.
