Every so often I come across a new brand of
gaming gear. After all, there is nothing else to do but to put it through the
paces and see if it can improve my appalling performance. Not that any amount
of precision gear will help but one can only dream.

Big and bad (no not that bad, the other
one)
The Dark Glide lives up to its name. It is
very dark – a matte black sort. It’s very pleasing to the eye. Sharkoon has
decided against following the trend of putting rubber or silicon on the device
to try and improve the grip. This is both a good because they make up for it
with excellent ergonomics and bad as the texture on the mouse stains quite
easily. Ergonomically, it's a great idea. The size and shape of the Dark Glide
is perfect for resting your hand. It's broad enough to accommodate all but the
largest of hands. If you find that the mouse is too small, then you might be a
grizzly bear.

Gaming deal
There's a cute little function in the
driver software that counts the number of clicks made with the Dark Glide. I do
not know why this exists but it somehow makes everything better. Functionally,
the mouse only reaches 6000 dpi, which isn't as high as the competition but
adequate for most gamers. Frankly, the regular everyday gamer won't notice the
difference unless you specifically told them. As a midrange device, one might
be more ready to forgive the low specifications. If there is one complaint, it
is that the buttons are a little click-y. The plastic doesn't feel as pleasant
to touch and click. Yes, they are programmable but the extra force needed to
click on the extra buttons might cause gamers to lose a couple of moments.
Moments that are crucial in a firefight.

Stitching
up the patient and seeing it come to life afterwards is always a great feeling.
In this image of the DarkGlider you can see the DPI LCD display is now
illuminated and it will always be red, this you cannot change. If you look
close enough, it is displaying 800 DPI, which is the default and lowest
setting.
Stepping
back a bit you can barely see the glow of the LCD screen, but now you can see
the logo is illuminated. This color can be changed to one of 31 other preset
offerings.
