Matias Quiet Pro - Much More Versatile Than You Might Think

10/9/2012 9:02:12 AM

The design of the Matias Quiet Pro keyboard is no-nonsense. It has a black (PC model) or silver (Mac model) exterior, with black keys, a silver braided USB cable, and two clear plastic legs for adjusting the height. Other than that, it’s a straightforward keyboard, but what it lacks in a flashy exterior, it more than makes up for in performance.

Matias Quiet Pro

The Matias Quiet Pro is just as responsive as you’d expect a mechanical keyboard to be. The keyswitches are Matias’ own creation, the product of two years of R&D. Matias claims that the Quiet Pro is the world’s quietest mechanical keyboard, and from our experience with similar devices, we’re inclined to agree. You don’t lose the tactile feedback that mechanical keyboard users have grown to love and you gain the typing that’s almost as quiet as a rubber alternative. Each keystroke gives you gentle feedback and a satisfying clicking sound that’s just barely there.

Matias designed the Quiet Pro not only with gamers in mind but also for those who use their computer for work and school, as well. There’s a TAB key right next to the number pad, so you can type in a spreadsheet and crunch numbers quickly without having to move back and forth between the main keyboard and the pad. The Quiet Pro also features media playback controls for music, movies, and more. It also has three USB 2.0 ports near the top of the keyboard for connecting other devices.

Sometimes the trend for gaming keyboards, or any type of keyboard for that matter, is to add as many bells and whistles as possible to make the keyboard customizable enough to fit almost any use. Matias took a different approach and instead focused on giving you exactly what you need and nothing more. It’s a solid mechanical keyboard with highly responsive keys and a muted clicking sound. And the three additional USB ports are great for anyone who, like us, keeps buying more and more USB devices without having enough inputs to support them. By doubling as a quiet mechanical keyboard and a USB hub, the Matias Quiet Pro is much more versatile than you might think.
