A good selection of port and easy
overclocking make it an excellent AMD Trinity motherboard.
Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4 supports the latest
“Trinity” chip of AMD, such as Best Buy-winning A10-5800K. F2A85X-UP4 use
high-grade A85X chipset, so you will have 7 SATA3 connectors and no SATA2. You
will no longer need to compromise or swap SATA cables to have the best speed
for any new devices you’d like to use; just need to plug the newest SSD in. It also
has many ports on the top and back panels.
You have 4 USB3 ports on the back panel and
1 USB3 connector, with 2 more USB ports on the back panel and 3 USB connectors.
The motherboard also has 1 Gigabit Ethernet port, the 7.1 surround sound output,
1 optical S/PDIF output, 1 eSATA port and 1 legacy PS/2 port.
The supplement of graphics outputs includes
D-sub, DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, providing outputs for every
case. Perhaps the most important thing for gamers is the three PCI-E x16 slots.
2 of these can be configured to run in CrossFire mode, although the second one
only runs at x8. The board also has three PCI-E x1 slots, but one will be
locked if you install a graphics card in one of the first two PCI-E x16 slots.
It also has a legacy PCI slot, which is handy if you need to install a FireWire
or USB expansion card.
The
most important thing for gamers is the three PCI-E x16 slots.
When installed with AMD A10-5800K and 4GB
DDR3 1600MHz, our tests give us the total score of 63. This is what we expect
from A10-5800K. We overclocked the chip to 4.2GHz and ran the tests again. It
got a 10-percent increase in performance, which helps to increase the overall
score to 69. UEFI BIOS of F2A85X-UP4 is pretty basic, but it provides every essential
