The device has Gigabit LAN and N-standard
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 which allow users to connect to the headset to stream
audio. Its LAN connectivity functions quite stably; in a test where the data
transfer speeds between two computers of the same network speed were measured,
they were quite high. In particular, copying a file of 15GB only took about 7
minutes to be completed, with an average speed of 35 MB/sec.
The Wi-Fi was not acceptable, because in
spite of being N-standard (which means the speed is about 150 Mb/s), when
tested with two other N-standard wireless transmitters, the speeds only reached
up to 72 Mb/sec, though the network quality was strong (from 90 to 95% in a
place of 20m2 with obstacles).
The
maximum Wi-Fi network speed was 1.5MB/s in spite of being N-standard.
This pretty much affects the data transfer
speed over wireless networks. Specifically, if comparing the N-standard
wireless network speed when transferring data between two devices, the average speed
varied from 3 MB/s to 5 MB/s, while the device only reached to a maximum of
about 1.5 MB/sec. In a test, it took approximately 30 minutes for the device to
copy a file of 2.6GB. However, when compared to other compact computers, the
machine has a more stable Wi-Fi network speed thanks to another antenna placed
separately on the back, whick helps receiving/transmitting Wi-Fi without
interference.
Performance
This is a mid-range desktop, which can meet
the needs for word processing, entertainment or playing media directly over the
network. Even with advanced entertainment features such as watching Full HD
movies or playing advanced 3D games, the device can still handle them all but
occasionally will suffer from some kind of lagging due to the limited
capabilities of the processor.
In particular, the performance tests are
shown below:
With
the overall score of the Windows Experience Index, it reached respectively 3.9
for CPU, 5.8 for RAM, 5.7 for 3D graphics and the highest point is 7.8 for the
hard disc.
With the PCMark 7, it achieved 1629 points,
corresponding to a mid-range PC.
With the CineBench 11.5, it only achieved 8.34
fps with the OpenGL graphics library and 0.65 for CPU, a low average for a
mid-range computer system.
With the 3DMarks 06, it got 2401, which is
enough to handle some modest 3D games.
Thus, in the experience with Street
Fighter IV, it got 31 fps, which is just sufficient so that there will be
no lagging.
As the 60GB SSD provides very high data
transfer speed, performance tests showed the best results. The read rate was
567 MB/s and the write rate was 482 MB/s.
With
Webvizbench to measure web surfing support with HTML5, the device showed less powerful
capabilities than in systems using Intel, achieving only 2,600 points.
We gave it a try with another program, Peacekeeper,
and the device only got 609, which is corresponding to the Nexus 10 tablet.
