First impressions
A flat bread-like device to ensure all the
gesture controls are fully utilized for all Windows 8 devices? Well, it may
sound a bit far-fetched, but Logitech has already come up with a unique
touchpad that just does that. We might have been a bit confused when we first
laid eyes on it, because it just looks like a plain flat slate! But, it's so
much more. And oh, do we have it covered here for you.

Review
The minimalistic look and all metal body
really go in favor of this Touchpad from Logitech, which weighs in only at 210
gms, which is just slightly heavier than the Lumia 920 on a larger surface, as
this Touchpad is larger and wider than any phablet in the market. But the real
idea is to enable the user to ensure all the gesture movements are utilized of
Windows 8, even if you have a non-touch surface. So, once we turned the switch
on and put the Bluetooth adapter into the laptop, it immediately picked the
drivers up and installed them without a fuss. That enabled multiple finger
scroll and gesture control on our slightly older laptop on which we had
recently upgraded to Windows 8. The fluid movements on this 'new' trackpad was
a whole lot more fun as it essentially became a touchscreen interface on a
non-touch display. I especially enjoyed toggling between screens with the left
to right finger sweep as well as the 4 finger sweep movements. Basically if you
can get used to all the finger and gesture movements on a touch-friendly
Windows 8 tablet, then you can certainly enjoy the same experience on a non-touch
display using the Logitech Touchpad. The battery life of the product is quite
good, though, and it can certainly last for really long hours without you ever
worrying for another re-charge. But if you do want to recharge it, then you
simply use the USB cable and continue using the touchpad while it charges
itself up. There is a small LED indicator on the top right that lets you know
if the Touchpad is charged or not. The mechanical click works well if and picks
up left and right click quite well though it is not as sensitive as I would
have liked it to be. Apparently you can also connect this to up to 6 compatible
devices, but since we just had one Bluetooth adapter, we could not test it on
multiple devices.

Extras
The really clean and minimal look has been
extended to the panels too as the front panel houses the microUSB port and the
right side has the On/Off switch.
Verdict
At 5K, this is perhaps not the most affordable
solution to a touch-friendly OS on a non-touch laptop/desktop. But, if the
newly introduced Windows 8 UI has left you a bit flustered and you wish to
continue with it on your sturdy old PC/laptop then this handy Touchpad is just
the device you should be investing in. Especially considering the great build
quality and battery life, it really feels worth the price.
