Asus Vivo Tab RT
A lightweight QWERTY-packing slate that has
plenty of heritage to lean on
The
keyboard dock is top quality and syncing is a breeze too
Asus has made some big waves in the hybrid
tablet market and so it's not surprising to see the Taiwanese electronics giant
embrace the Windows 8 revolution with open arms.
The Vivo Tab RT runs a mobile quad-core
processor which means it can't run traditional programs, but it's well suited
to the host of new apps. There's also 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an
8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 10.1-inch, 1,366 x 768 display - all
inside a design weighing just over 500g.
You can rest assured that the keyboard dock
- that also extends battery life - is top quality, and the addition of NFC
connectivity means syncing with other enabled devices should be a breeze as
well.

Acer Iconia W700
Packing an Intel Core processor, the W700
is much smarter than your average tablet
The
ultimate Windows 8 tablet more
The Acer Iconia W700 is unlikely to worry
the super-slim slate brigade. Fortunately, the 11.9mm-thick slate is focused on
cutting-edge technology. Powered by either an i3 or an i5 third-generation
Intel Core processor, Asus's new flagship Windows 8 tablet also boasts three
USB 3.0 ports, FIDMI connectivity and a Thunderbolt port. Crucially, the Intel
Core means it will run the full version of Microsoft Office without difficulty.
The 11.6-inch display is full FID, and audio
quality is also superb thanks to the Dolby Flome Theatre v4 technology
built-in.
The W700 is a true tablet, whose only
companion is a charging dock that allows for two different angle setups that
enable natural typing or enhanced viewing.
