Being cheaper option than other leading
smartphones, $99.99 Motorola Droid Razr M is very strong. And although it has a
big 4.3 inch screen, it does this by using the shape coefficient that is small
enough to use with one hand or put in a pocket comfortably. It cannot beat the
Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone as our favorite non-Apple Verizon smartphone.
However, Razr M offers a "killer" mix of good design, performance and
price.

Size, design and calling quality
Razr M looks like a newborn Razr: smaller,
but having a little bit fat of a baby. It has a size of 4.82x2.40x0.33 inches
(HWD) and a weight of 4.44 ounces. Motorola reaches this size by using
edge-to-edge screen; in fact, that telephone is a screen. There is a small
space for camera above and beveled at the bottom, and there is no 1 cm waste
from any place else.
The phone is also well designed. Motorola
uses Kevlar back as before, with the rest of the device is made of aluminum
and the entire phone is protected by water-proof nano cover. It is black or
white, and both models look sharp.
The
phone is also well designed.
4.3 inch, 960x540 pixel Super AMOLED
Advanced display is light and supper saturate. I do not like the PenTile
layout, which makes text and images look blurry, but certainly most people will
not bother. There is a row of three buttons on the screen and I do not have any
problems when typing on the software keyboard.
Razr M works on the supper fast 3G and 4G
LTE network of Verizon, it can roam worldwide on GSM networks. 802.11a/b/g/n
Wi-Fi works well on my WPA2 encryption network. Razr M records well and gets
impressive score in speed test.
Warm voice, though somewhat unclear via the
headphones; clear transmit, strong noise reduction. Calls sound pretty good via
Jawbone Era Bluetooth headsets; the Motorola voice control system works well
over Bluetooth. Speaker phone is clear and big enough for outdoor using in a
quiet environment. 2000mAh removable battery has excellent talk time of 10
hours and 8 minutes.
Processor, Android and apps
Motorola will not reveal any detail about
the 1.5GHz dual-core processor of Razr M, but the phone runs similar to the
Samsung Galaxy S III is equipped S4 chip. Gaming frame rate is higher than on
the RAZR M, but that is because of the lower resolution screen, it means that
it is using less pixels. However, this phone is very fast, and be able to
handle any game or application.
Razr M runs on 11-month-old Android 4.0.4
"Ice Cream Sandwich" operating system. I feel disappointed by the
absence of elite Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" on one Motorola phone,
which is owned by Google. An update will be released before the end of the
year, but this is still not a positive signal for Android users in general.
The most important home screen of the phone
is pre-installed with several cool icons and Circle utilities of Motorola.
Unfortunately, the Razr M also has a lot of bloatware (floating software). Some
of them are good, such as the useful SmartAction application of Motorola,
allowing you to follow a rule to complete one particular task easier (such as
reduce the screen brightness and turn off the features that waste battery to
ensure battery, or switch the phone to the driver mode so that it can read the
message while you are driving). Mostly, the Verizon and Zappos application
store only waste storage.
Multimedia, camera and conclusion
You have 4.3GB storage space, and 1 blank
microSD card slot mounted on the side. 3.5mm headphone jack on the above edge
of phone that can play well every FLAC music file. Although via the wired
headset, the sound is a bit heavy on the bass and less treble, I hear small
noise in the background. The phone plays all testing video files with 1080p
resolution although the sound is not sync via Bluetooth in all file format.
Using earbud solved this problem, except for DivX file.
8MP autofocus camera has one LED flash at
the back, but it's a bit disappointing. There are many controls on the screen
but the image quality has not changed much since the original Droid Razr last
year. The auto focus is quickly, and once it does that, the camera captures
quite beautiful images although it is quite dark and noise in 0.6 seconds. The
camera records good video. Indoor and outdoor filming plays with 30fps smooth
speed in sharp 1080p format. Besides, there is also one front-facing VGA camera
for video chat.
Even if it is $200 more expensive, not $100,
I still think that Droid Razr M is excellent. It is not the comprehensive
multimedia machine like the Samsung Galaxy S III, but is another attractive
alternative if you are not a fan of giant phones.
