There is a general consensus that Audio
Technica makes quality headphones and great audio equipment. This, I have
discovered, is true. But there’s more to good headphones than fantastic audio
quality.
Audio
Technica ATH PRO5MK2
The good bits
So it has to be agreed that the ATH PRO5MK2
doesn’t do the brand any damage. Audio quality is good and manages to cover a
decent amount of frequencies while reproducing them crisply and clearly. The
ever so important bass that seems to grab attention these days is a satisfying
low rumble that is clearly intended for actual music. All in there is really no
reason to overlook this set of headphones.
With
the PRO5MK2 Professional Monitor headphones, Audio-Technica has achieved the
outstanding sound quality and long-wearing listening comfort, with even better
specifications
The not so good bits
The real issue with this setup is how
uncomfortable the headset earcups can get. The ear pieces aren’t very big and
end up pressing down on the ear lobes. Combine with the synthetic feel of the
faux leather means that nobody is going to be wearing these for very long. That
truly is a pity because the rest of the build quality is very good. The plastic
is solid and looks like it can take more than a few bumps. The cushioning is
ample and if it hadn’t been for the odd texture of the covering would be
comfortable to have.
The
fit is somewhat tight, which might need some getting used to. However you can
stretch the cans out and they’ll eventually be quite comfortable to wear.
If
you like listening to artists like Usher, Daft Punk, Chris Brown, Kanye West,
or other bass heavy artists then you might want to consider the PRO5MK2.
The
ATH-PRO5MK2 can be great cans for people who listen to bass heavy tracks at
home or at the office.
