Battle Of The Superphones - Bigger, Better, Bolder! (Part 2)

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S4

The Galaxy S4 has a plethora of cool features that were showcased during their amusing presentation, including dual-camera mode and moving images. Whereas some of these features might be a bit gimmicky, but there is no denying the fact that the 13MP snapper on this S4 is really good, but low-light performance might not be as great as the HTC, which seemingly has the Ultrapixel advantage.

Nokia Lumia 920

Excellent in low-light and pretty good in almost any condition, the Lumia 920 has a super 8MP PureView camera which we had seen earlier in the Nokia 808 Pureview. It also has a dual-LED flash, but that might just be an additional accessory as the aperture is the widest in a smartphone camera, and it really does perform quite close to what you'd expect from a good point-n-shoot camera.

HTC One

Equipped with the HTC Zoe, the HTC One has the most interesting camera of the lot. Why? Because it's technically only 4MP, which makes it the smallest picture size amongst the competitors, but each pixel has more size to it - making it an Ultrapixel camera. This would also mean amazing low-light camera shots and equally sharp images in good lighting.

BlackBerry Z10

Perhaps not up to the same mark as its peers, the 8MP snapper from BB doesn't feel like it's in the same league. But, it still is the best camera on a BB device ever, though that might not be saying a lot! In any case, there are quite a few fun features loaded on the camera and the quality is quite acceptable with decent light. Struggles with low light, though.

Apple iPhone 5

The cameras of iPhones have always been great, and the iPhone 5 is no exception. With an updated iSight technology, Apple have gone a step further and created quite an exceptional camera, with a few tricks of its own. But, compared to the competition - the UI of the camera is as minimal as it gets, and the features are also not that big. Quality-wise, it's right up there!

Apps, storage & others

Samsung Galaxy S4

With 16, 32 and 64GB of internal storage variants already available along with support for a microSD card, the S4 is well covered in the storage department. And with incredible hardware, you can download and install as many games as you want and they will run without a flaw. It has a bigger screen than any of the competitors, which on the Super AMOLED makes for a gorgeous combo. And even though the S4 has a PenTile display like the S3, it does a better job of hiding the arrangement of sub-pixels and the overall effect is just perfect!

Nokia Lumia 920

With 32GB of internal storage only, there is no method to expand the capacity of storage available natively on the Nokia Lumia 920. That's quite a disadvantage, but if you're okay with carrying less multimedia on you, or like to stream media directly from the internet, then it's worth the dough you will end up paying for the Lumia 920. The Windows store is not as huge as the Android or Apple, but certainly better than BB. However, both these environments are looking to expand and we will keep seeing popular apps being developed for these platforms too.

HTC One

Another candidate with no microSD card support, but does have 32 as well as 64GB variants. Plus, with access to the huge Google Play store (just like the S4), you can pretty much download all the games and apps that you've always wanted on the One. It can certainly withstand a huge workload on its core processing and GPU capabilities a lot better than the Z10 and even the Lumia 920, in most cases.

BlackBerry Z10

The BB Z10 has a BB app world that lacks the depth and width of what a modern OS should have. It is playing catch up all the while when Android and Apple are going from strength and strength, so use it only if you are not into apps that much. It does have microSD card support so you can carry around as many of your multimedia flies as you wish, but the display does not quite match up to the competitors here.

Apple iPhone 5

The iPhone has never had microSD card support but the internal variants are till 64GB and iPhone owners have never really complained. Well, the ones who have complained have switched to Android, but iPhone 5's retina display and overall ease of use with the plethora of apps available to download and install, make it an easy choice for most.

Winner winner chicken dinner?!

In a battle of equals, there is seldom a winner, and so is the case with this battle here. The whole point of a straight comparison like this is, to let you decide what suits your needs the most. And if you've found exactly what you've been wanting to own after reading this, then we're already over the moon!
