After weeks of publicity Blackberry
finally unveiled OS 10 along with its new series of phones Z10 and X10. And
after a couple of weeks, the rebooted BB line is now in India. With a price
tag of $790 the Z10 will be available in the Indian markets by the time you
will be reading this article.
One of the last few attempts by the
Canadian company to recapture the market, Blackberry is trying to shed its
image of being someone who does not progress with the times. Right from
operating software issues to the design of the phone itself, Blackberry had a
lot on its plate that had to be reinvented.
Blackberry have also announced a device
with a keyboard that will hit the shelves in April, called the Q10 (possibly
the internationally branded X10) and confirmed Ranbir Kapoor as their new brand
ambassador. So here is what we thinks about the new Blackberry OS 10.
It
is all about "10" for Blackberry in 2013
Blackberry hub
This feature truly gives a feel of advancement
to the old, stuck up Blackberry. Now you can check all your conversations like
E-Mails, BBM's, etc with a single swipe. Very similar to how the notification
panel functions in an iPhone or an Android Phone, this feature is truly a great
addition.
All new keyboard
The feel of the new Keyboard is a lot
better than the old one. Typing with this one is not only swift but also quite
error free.

BBM
The feature that has been the USP for Blackberry
phones in India has also seen some new, visible and beneficial changes. With
inclusion of voice and video chat, BBM is now headed towards a completely
different transition.
Blackberry balance
Quite impressive in the way it has been
designed, it allowed us to separate our work profiles from our personal ones.
This not only includes settings but also content like apps and other data. From
the looks of it, Blackberry no longer wishes to a phone for those with
"Suits."
The browser
Finally Blackberry included HTML5 support
for their browser. This included the ability to use multiple tabs. It was not
only faster but also seemed a lot more efficient now. No longer would users how
to wait before a page loaded.

Blackberry remember
A blend of memos, tasks, etc, the
"Remember" feature allowed us to organize and manage information like
ideas and collect content such as websites, emails, photos, documents, and
other files. Then like a To-Do list, lets you create tasks, assign due dates,
and track your progress.
Blackberry world
The app world has also undergone changes as
now it offers. Apart from the 70,000 apps, it will now also allow users to
download videos and music.
Overall, this is a great update for
Blackberry users. "This is an entirely new operating system," said
company spokesman Nick Manning. "We think it's the first entirely new
mobile operating system in about five years." Not only functionality wise
but also it gives the professional phone an extremely youthful appeal.
The new devices
After years of focus on QWERTY keypad
phones, Blackberry finally chose to move ahead with the times and create a
phone that can compete with touchscreen giants like iPhone's and Galaxy's. At
the event, Blackberry unveiled two new Smartphones, namely Z 10 and X 10.
Thankfully, they have finally decided to drop the confusing phone names like
Curve, Bold, Storm, etc.

Both phones have been launched abroad and
have received mixed reviews. For Research in Motion, this is a make or break
situation in the Indian market. Having dominated for a brief period, they were
dethroned only a couple of years ago with masses choosing iOS and Android and
terming the BB OS as an outdated one. The devices too were perceived to be
professional in appearance. For a while, masses were purchasing the phone only
for its BBM feature but that too lost its charm to Smartphone Apps.
Both Z10 and X10 are aimed towards
different sets of consumers. While Z10 focuses towards those who are fond of
the touch screen and a larger screen size, the X10 sticks to its traditional,
serious QWERTY approach. Both phones are equipped with the latest OS, high -
end cameras, and lots more.
