The Samsung GALAXY NotePRO 12.2 is appropriately large and
packed with features. But is it worth its skyhigh price tag?
Turning the Samsung GALAXY Note
devices into tablet form is a natural progression – more screen estate to work
with the S Pen is always a joy. But now the Samsung GALAXY NotePRO 12.2
arrives, asking a steep price for a professionally-designed desktop replacement.
Is it worth the money?
On the design standpoint, it
would’ve been somewhat justified. While Samsung is still eschewing metal parts,
the NotePRO is undoubtedly a well-designed tablet. Despite the hefty screen,
the tablet is wondrously slim, light and solid.
NotePRO
There are many design pluses to
praise here; starting with the black texturedmatte back that makes the device
easier to grip. Samsung has smartly allowed some bezel space between the edges
and the screen that gives you ample thumb space to work with.
Top praises go to the 12.2-inch screen,
which displays at 2,560 x 1,600 resolutions. Samsung opted for a TFT LCD screen
instead of their traditional AMOLED displays, but it doesn’t stop the display
from looking sharp, bright and clear. Sadly, it performs rather poorly under
direct sunlight.
Running under the hood is a 2.3GHz Quad-Core
Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a generous 3GB of RAM, making this tablet
something of a powerhouse. Expectedly, apps, games and videos run smoothly on
the NotePRO, and even with Multi Window on, the tablet performs admirably
stable.

GALAXY NotePRO 12.2
No GALAXY Note is complete without the
exceptional S Pen, which works just as well and precisely here. The NotePRO is
also complete with all the S Pen functionality that you’d expect, including Air
View, Pen Window and Scrapbook.
Additionally, the NotePRO comes
with remote desktop capabilities, letting you stream your PC’s content on the
Note Pro using just an app and a Wi-Fi connection. It works fairly well, though
not without its lags and quirks. It’s an addition that need not be here, but
welcoming all the same.
If
you’re curious about the camera, we’re glad to report that it’s surprisingly
solid and fast.
Battery on the NotePRO is fairly decent.
With Wi-Fi and 3G turned on to a video loop, we managed a good 12 hours of battery.
Ah, and if you’re curious about the camera, we’re glad to report that it’s surprisingly
solid and fast.
Chip conclude
Ultimately, whether you will get
the Samsung GALAXY NotePRO depends on how you weigh its hefty price tag towards
its offerings. At $914.47, the NotePRO is undoubtedly above most tablets out
there. Is it worth the price? Somewhat, considering that it’s a powerhouse
tablet of great screen and functionality. You’ll just have to decide if it’s
worth your investment towards your professional life.
