The Human Touch

The Samsung GALAXY S III. Need we say more? The phone has already broken pre-order records in the UK with 9 million orders before its official launch, and it's going to keep getting better. It shoots for the stars further than anything else had, but is it hitting anything?

"Designed for humans, inspired by nature" easily describes the GALAXY S Ill's design. It looks good in Marble White, and looks closer to the GALAXY Nexus than it does its predecessor. The lock button sits on the right side while the volume takes the left. The 'back' button takes the bottom, flanked by the Menu and Back touch-sensitive buttons. Everything is perfectly placed, and it's easy to use despite its large frame.

Much has been talked about the alleged plastic-ky feel of the phone, and we have to say that it does feel light and oddish. Still, the built here is tougher than it feels, gorilla glass and polycarbonate body and all. The screen, of course, is sharp, bright and gorgeous in its HD Super AMOLED form.

Running Android 4.0, with a new TouchWiz Ul layered on top, the experience of the S III is as pleasant

As it can be. Thanks to the quad-core processor, everything flows and runs smoothly. We were initially worried about the battery life, but the 2,100 mAh battery holds out nicely, giving the S III some solid hours.

So. Features. The GALAXY S III prides its 'Natural Interaction' experience, and the features that complement it certainly works. Smart Stay, Direct Call and Smart Alert may feel like minor, somewhat gimmicky features, but they work well and gives the phone a more organic touch. S Voice, while interesting, could do with a few improvements, as the detection can be a bit iffy sometimes. The camera, on the other hand, is great; it comes with notable features and takes good quality pictures.

“Rounded up, the Samsung GALAXY Sill certainly offers the most of each of its components. Blazing processor, a gorgeous screen, a great selection of features and a respectably good battery life, it all sums up into a something undeniably great. This is a fantastic phone, and it certainly hits the stars.”
