Internet radio is a great resource, but to
listen exactly what you want without jumping from this website to another
website is not easy.
Try Online Radio Tuner by Bassic
Technologies. In addition to allowing you to select from more than 800 pre-set
stations in nearly 40 categories (with many more genres for networks and
continents), ORT also lets you add other live radio transmission that you meet
on web, by copying an existing stream to Favorites, or use Clipboard to copy
the URL into the Files/Open URL. We see the station division between selected
presets and the Favorites selected by users is quite inconvenient - why not let
users combine all of their pre-set on a single list? - But ORT is still a good
way to build a library of web-based radio stations for you to enjoy.
We like the ability to pre-programmed
recordings of radio, with the repeat options. The presence of it on the Options
screen is a strange choice, based on nearly everything there are user profiles,
but it's still doing well. We also like Notifier, a pop-up just likes a small
Live Messenger slides from your System Tray and gives you appropriate
information about the music you are listening on the radio. Another interesting
feature is the ability to set and enable easily 5 Quick Favorite buttons
(presets) on a player with radio links of your choice.
Of course there is still space to develop
further. ORT needs more available settings before it becomes competitive in
this field with vTuner, and we want to see an user option to have more Favorite
Quick buttons. But this is very promising application, not messy and quickly
becoming essential for a rich online experience.
