We have come full circle in some ways.
Before, the cheapest way to take photographs is to use film cameras. Now, an
affordable full frame camera has arrived, which means it’s back to the heydays
when the sensor area is the same size as the old films. The Canon 6D is the
Canon’s latest model, which is designed for semi-professionals that want a
light body to carry around for their work but still need to work with a
full-framed sensor. Let’s see how the 6D is like.
The
new EOS 6D is the smallest and lightest full-frame Canon DSLR
Beyond light
The first time you pick up this gem of a
camera, you do not think that it is something more than it should weigh
literally. Once I had a go with it though, it left me speechless. The camera is
not as heavy as it looks. In fact, it feels even lighter than the 7D even. Of
course we are talking about semi-professional body sizes here so do not expect
it to be as light, or even lighter, than a compact camera. Even so, it is a
camera body that we do not mind carrying around all day for events and then
some.
Mix and match
Looks wise, the 6D mixes up some of the
practical concept of the 7D for its chassis with the latest elements that hail
directly from the 5D series. It is about 10-percent smaller than both the 7D
and the 5D Mark II. In fact, it weighs about 10-percent lighter than both as
well. The material and construction used for this new camera guarantees it to
be smaller and lighter than what is current. The best part: no compromise in
performance whatsoever.

Power performance
Canon, in wanting to make the 6D the best
it has to offer the semi-pro market, managed to fit in a lot of new technology
and innovations that ensures it is a step up from previous models. With a DIGIC
5 image processor, a larger 20-megapixel sensor, 1,040,000 dot pixel screen and
a speedier 4.5 frame/second continuous auto-focus drive system, it is the camera
to consider for proper field work that require a full frame sensor. Or it can
act as a suitable secondary camera. For enthusiasts, it is the one camera they
will only need. Another aspect of the camera that wowed us is the ISO
tolerance. Specifically, the camera allows images to be captured with ISO value
up to 25600. Yes, it is that high...and the best part: no visible noise! We
attached some sample photos if you can’t believe it in the next page.
HD video production
One feature that makes this camera stand
out among the rest is its ability to double up as a video capture device. In
terms of what it can do, it is comparable to its brethren in the 5D range.
Using lenses that feature Canon’s STM-equipped lens (such as the excellent 40mm
pancake), you will get smooth video recording every time in 1080p HD
resolution. What it needs is a decently speedy SD card to ensure the best
recording performance all the time.

Wi-Fi and GPS, once switched on, are highlighted on the LCD screen
Additional auxiliaries
The 6D is the first DSLR from Canon that
has Wi-Fi built-in, which means there is no for any clumsy dongles. Using an
app developed by Canon, you can also take photos remotely with your iOS device!
Imagine a family photo with you in it – minus the random rushing over after the
shutter release button had been pressed or a photo of a rare bird that is five
inches away from you camera, both of which are taken remotely through your
smart device. For many, the 6D is the camera to own and more. What are you waiting
for?
