Samsung Malaysia Electronics, once again,
decided to embrace another hybrid concept through the introduction of Samsung
Galaxy Camera. The camera is Samsung’s first “truly” connected camera as it
combines photography features with 3G and Wi-Fi functionality, all of which is
powered with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Yes, it is a camera and Android smart
device at the same time.
The
camera features Samsung’s ‘Smart Mode’ technology, which is a series of 15
default modes and settings
“The introduction of the Samsung GALAXY
Camera epitomizes how cameras have evolved over time. With this launch, we set
users free from the restrictions of a conventional camera! Indeed, we are
revolutionizing visual communications by giving users total freedom to take
high-quality pictures anytime, anywhere, and then share them instantly to
preserve these special moments. With our leadership in design and technology,
we will continue to introduce innovative devices to enhance the consumers’
imaging experiences. The era of Connected Camera now begins,” says Kwon Jae
Hoon, Managing Director, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn. Bhd.
When Samsung mentions 3G connectivity, it
really meant that the camera is able to house a SIM card inside. It opens up
smartphone-like activities especially for those who have the need to share
their pictures in social networking sites like Facebook and Instagram. Of
course, it is not too similar to a smartphone as you can’t make calls or send
text. However, those aren’t any problems if you use Skype or other VOIP apps.
The
new SAMSUNG GALAXY Camera, according to the senior executive team of Samsung,
is one of a kind and very unique
With a 21x long zoom lens and a 16MP BSI
CMOS sensor, you can bet your pictures will be looking nice and crisp. Within
the heart of the hybrid camera is a 1.4GHz quad-core processor with a 4.8in HD
Super Clear Touch Display that allows you to interact with the camera. The
touch display allows you to edit pictures and play games such as Angry Birds
and more. Surprisingly, TouchWiz UX is absent and a near Vanilla Android
experience is present.
The Galaxy Camera is available at all
authorized Samsung retailers for $608 from November 2012 onwards. As Samsung’s
data partner, Maxis Berhad will be offering a free Hotlink Broadband SIM Pack
with the first 5,000 cameras.
