HyperJuice 2 - Hungry For Power

4/2/2013 3:17:28 PM

There will always be a moment where you would curse at the lack of power plug points when working on-the-go. While most cafes are equipped to host you, the chance of the source of power being taken up by other like-minded individuals is high. After all, employers are increasingly encouraging this trend. Being an unintentional (cough) Apple user, I am running on the quintessential eco-system – MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. While there are plenty of external battery solutions for the last two devices; I personally have not come across any battery packs for the brand’s notebooks. Not until this review at least.

The HyperJuice 2 is a next-generation battery pack that can charge multiple Apple (and non-Apple) products simultaneously

Lifesaving backup

The new HyperJuice 2 External Battery that is designed specifically for MacBooks and iPad is a lifesaver when the storms kept tripping the electricity at home. At first, the size of the external battery put me off but upon comparison with the first version, the HyperJuice 2 is much sleeker and sexier. The unit itself features several ports, including a DC In, DC Out and two USB ports, along with an OLED display that spell out information such as power rating percentage, temperature and status. On the display’s immediate right is the inconspicuous power button.

Long lasting

With the external battery being fully charged which takes about 4 hours, I didn’t need to worry about running out of juice so easily. In fact, I had been charging the MacBook, iPhone and a 3000 mAh T.Bag Portable Power Bank, all at the same time, for slight more than 6 hours without a hitch. It’s size is the only hindrance, especially if you are travelling light while on the move. It brings new meaning to the term “power brick”.
