In addition to the use of battery properly, you can increase the time of using for the laptop battery by turning off unnecessary connections or clean it regularly.

Here are some tips to extend the laptop battery life.

Unplug external devices

External devices such as USB, card reader, modem, CD/DVD and Blu-ray are one of the causes of battery power consumption. Therefore, you should enable these devices to stop working if unnecessary.

Avoid excessive use of software at the same time

The use of from 10 to 15 applications at the same time or more will cause the laptop battery to be "consumed" considerably. So, you should turn off the unnecessary applications and specially limit the use of heavy programs like Pes2013, 3dmax....

Clean the laptop

You should clean your laptop regularly, about every 3 to 6 months. This will help your laptop to run smoothly and consume less power.

Defragment hard drive

If you use a laptop with the hard drive speed from 5,400 to 7,200 revolutions per minute, the hardware also consumes a lot of energy for the rotation of the magnetic disk. Besides, running the disk defragmentation software Disk Defragmenter available on Windows weekly will also help the hard drive operate faster. Thereby, the energy is saved.

Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when unused

To disable the Bluetooth connection, do the following:

In the search box, type: Network connection. Select the "View network connections".

Type: Network connection. Select the "View network connections"

Right-click "Bluetooth Network Connection". Select "Disable".

To turn off Wi-Fi, you can press Fn + the Wi-Fi icon on the keyboard.

Use the feature Hirbernate rather than Sleep

When you close the laptop lid cover with the Sleep mode in it, the RAM and the motherboard still have to work to keep the current sessions in memory system operating quickly again.

In the Hibernate mode (hibernation), your laptop will save all current activities on disk and completely power off the disk instead of just in the Sleep mode. When the computer in Hibernate mode is similar to power off, but when awakened, the applications are restored normal operation.

Increase RAM for your laptop

You can add RAM from 2 to 4GB or 4 to 8GB. At this time, your laptop uses less virtual and physical memories. This means having less access to hard drive, and also consuming less energy.

Remove unnecessary software

You need to thoroughly remove the useless software or the software rarely used because they are wasting more system resources.

Go to "Control Panel> Programs and Features".

Use battery properly

The laptop battery has limited the number of activities (the number of charging and discharging). To get the best charge and discharge limits, you should pay attention to some of the following ways of using:

For the first charge: usually, the laptop battery is a type of Li-ion battery, so for the first time of charge, you should not charge more than 10 hours. Since by only 3 to 4 hours the battery is full, if you continue charging, the battery will heat up and reduce its life. However, the manufacturers have integrated the automatically disconnecting function into their products when the battery is fully charged, so this is not much of interest.

If the laptop has not been used for a long time, its battery should be below 50%. This will help reduce the attrition of battery power (according to the using manual of the laptop manufacturers).

Limit the exhaustedly use of the laptop battery because Li-ion battery for laptop does not have the memory effect, causing the ineffective state of battery. The manufacturers have restricted this by just operating the laptop when the battery is from 5 to 10%, if below that, the machine will automatically turn off.

If your laptop does not have the battery management software, to avoid discharging the chargeable battery (use up and then fully charge) unworthy multiple times, plug the charger constantly. It will not cause harm because when the battery is full, the circuitry of the battery will automatically disconnect, not charging anymore.

When using the battery, use it until it is 10 to 20%, recharge it, because if with only a few percent, it has immediately been charged many times, the number of battery cells which have not been used will not take effect themselves.

If the charger is plugged regularly, try to recharge and discharge periodically from one to two weeks.

Clean the contact of the battery circuit; avoid the poor contact causing the damage to the battery.
