In 2013, HTC has focused more on dual-SIM
segment when releasing Desire SV costing $395.
Desire SV is an upgrade of the previous
dual-SIM Desire X, regarding specs. The product delivers HTC’s new trend in
design influenced by the early Butterfly model.
HTC
Desire SV
The device features 4.3in Super LCD screen
(489x800pixel resolution). It is equipped with a dual-core Snapdragon S4
processor (1GHz), 768MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage extendable up to 32GB
Besides, the system owns an 8MP camera with
LED flash and BSI sensor, 28mm lens with f/2.2 focal range. HTC Desire SV runs
Android 4.0 using HTC Sense UI. Additionally, specs also include Bluetooth 4.0,
GPS, Wi-Fi, Beats Audio and 1,620mAh battery.
Design and display
HTC Desire SV sharing common look with One
SV yet it has a different plastic chassis from One SV’s metal chassis. This
model also showed off HTC’s new change in design in 2013.
The
rough back lid helps user to handle the device more firmly
Unlike the last year’s Unibody design,
Desire SV design comes in 3 separate parts: back lid, frame and display.
The back lid is still made of rough
polycarbonate, delivering a firm handle yet it easily get scratched and
sweated. The back is also curved, making the product thicker than old models
but it would fit perfectly in palm.
The
frame is painted to look metal-like, matching the back’s color.
Buttons
are well made. From side view, we could see the 3 separate parts.
In
the bottom lie micro and charge port. User can dismantle the device through the
bottom.
Power
button and headphone jack are on top.
The frame is plastic-made and colored
similarly to the lining which is painted metal-like. Though made of plastic, details
and buttons were well processed, looking like metal-made.
Below
the back lid, SIM tray and memory card are placed around the camera. The
arrangement allows for quick changing without the need of shutting down the
system.
The screen, which used to be inside the
frame, now emerges and is surrounded by a plastic color-matching fringe. The stereo
appears in a long bar with outlets, which produce good sound yet easily get
dirty.
The display is a 4.3in Super LCD 2, plus
480x800pixel resolution, providing clear image. Colors were nice and accurate,
with high contrast. It could deal with bright-lit conditions and large viewing
angles.

In the $300-$400 price range, HTC Desire SV
is a good option for dual-SIM smartphones.
