While not particularly visible in the local
market, Toshiba has consistently unveil LED new tablet devices over the past
years. Last April, it introduced three new tablets under the excite line. The
excite 7.7 in particular is the same as the Toshiba Regza AT270 found in the
Asia-Pacific region.

Regza Tablet AT270
Dressed in a dual-tone aluminum chassis,
the AT270 reminds us of the first-generation ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, which
came in a bronze-black combination. For the AT270, its back consists of two
different shades of gray.
Measuring just 7.85mm-thin, the AT270 is
one of the thinner tablets around, second only to Apple’s iPad Mini at 7.2mm.
Its closest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 comes in at 7.89mm.
Despite its sleek profile, Toshiba is able
to fit in a SIM card slot, microSD slot, and a micro-USB port on the AT270.
Unlike most Android devices, the micro-USB port is only used for file transfer
duties; charging is done via a proprietary dock connector at the bottom.
As for its display, it features a 7.7-inch
AMOLED display that delivers rich and vibrant colors with very deep blacks.
With wide viewing angles and good contrast, the multimedia viewing experience
on the AT270 is excellent.
The AT270 is preloaded with Android 4.0.3
Ice Cream Sandwich. There are some light customizations to the stock Android
interface such as the addition of a toggle switch for enabling Balanced Power
Mode in the notification panel.

Running on an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core 1.2
GHz processor and 1GB RAM, the AT270 is able to load apps quite fast while
deftly handling multitasking. In terms of storage capacity, the AT270 is
unrivalLED as it has 32GB onboard storage and a microSD slot supporting up to
128GB. Audio experience is also above average on the AT270, thanks to audio
features such as SRS Premium Voice Pro and an automatic ambient noise
equalizer.
Battery mileage is an aspect where the
AT270 did fairly well. In our standard video battery test, it lasted close to 9
hours. Power consumption-wise, it has one of the lowest among the 7-inch
tablets due to a more efficient AMOLED display. Under normal usage conditions,
we could easily squeeze out a day of use from the AT270.

Overall, the AT270 has its merits as a
7.7-inch tablet thanks to its storage expandability, dedicated micro-USB port
for data transfers, and audio enhancements
