Color, exposure and details are good the
camera transmitted reliable and consistent results. Flash performance is quite
good at illuminating objects, however red-eye is noticeable in some portrait
photos, although using flash to reduce red-eye.

Macro
| 1/5 sec | f/5.6 | 6.0 mm | ISO 400
Good sensitivity range can be extended by
using iDynamic option, or using HDR mode will link three photos with a maximum
resolution. Purple fringing is quite strong in all three photos, however this
is found in the wide-angle lens. There are many levels of detail sharpness at
wide angle setting, although photos appear quite blurry when using telephoto
zoom. Macro is quite good that allows you to focus objects from camera 3 cm away.
Deformation is very small camera did a good job when editing this error
automatically.
ISO

ISO
test images
The noise is low at ISO80, with a slight
increased at ISO100 and ISO200. At ISO400 there is other slight increase in
noise, although detail is still good. At ISO800 the noise increases and the
details are lost. Again at ISO 1600 noise increases and the details are lost
but the results are still good. At ISO 3200 there is a decline in light of the
details. The noise is quite bad at ISO 6400 and this setting is best avoided.
As speculated, at ISO 12800 the noise is highest, and the detail amount is lowest,
so this setting should be avoided.
White-balance
test images
AWB
Tungsten
AWB
Fluorescent
Auto White balance (AWB) performs well
under white light, as well as white light preset. AWB also takes good pictures
under fluorescent light, without fluorescent light preset in the camera but
this is okay because you do not need one due to AWB performed well.
Panorama
mode
Pano
1 | 1/160 sec | f/8.0 | 6.0 mm | ISO 80
Pano
Effect | 1/200 sec | f/8.0 | 6.0 mm | ISO 80
Panorama mode automatically links the
photos together when you surf the camera from to side to side. You can have the
choice about the filter, an example of high mono contrast is given above.
Digital
filter
Take
photos with the different filters
There are a large number of available
filters, with a little can be adjusted. Camera recorded at both JPEG and RAW
files so you can return to the original image if you do not like the effects.
Camera also has some different types of colors.
Video
The video quality is good with full HD
video camera with stereo sound as well as optical zoom. Camera focused quickly
and optical image stabilization functions help to keep the image steady,
although a perfect tripod is recommended, especially if using zoom.
Value
Panasonic Lumix LF1 is for $584 that makes
it more expensive than some competitors however it is one of the cheapest
high-end compact cameras with a viewfinder. Also consider with a compact camera
body, automatic control and a similar zoom level or an optical viewfinder, can
be found below, although only two first cameras are the similar size to LF1:
·
Nikon Coolpix P330 (5x optical zoom), $401
·
Olympus XZ-10 (5x optical zoom), $449
·
Nikon Coolpix P7700 (7.1x optical zoom,) $483
·
Canon Powershot G15 (5x optical zoom), $614
·
Fujifilm X20 (4x optical zoom, optical viewfinder),
$683
You also need to buy a memory card and a
case or bag to keep your camera safe and protected – read our complete guide
about camera bag.
Verdict
Panasonic Lumix LF1 brings good photos,
with saturated bright colors, along with a host of features, includes excellent
Wi-fi control and sharing. The body is compact with your pocket, although small
size but feels compact with quick access to the controls.
Panasonic Lumix LF1 brings good zoom range
in a compact camera body, with full manual control and RAW shooting mode. In
addition, this camera can manage to get together with an electronics
viewfinder, in a camera body that is not much larger than the other camera
models without viewfinder.
Screen is sharp, performs well outdoors,
even under the glare of the sun when the brightness increases, makes us wonder
whether the electronic viewfinder (EVF) is really necessary. The small size of
EVF makes it difficult to use. The nearest competitor with the same amount of
optical zoom is larger than this camera, and so anyone is looking for a compact
camera with many control functions, Panasonic Lumix LF1 is a good
consideration.
