A worthy, commendable gaming mouse from
Corsair
Corsair's own sailing into gaming
peripheral waters has been quite a bountiful thing. While we've yet to see the
truly exceptional, their entries are undoubtedly solid ones that are worthy of
recommendation. The Corsair Vengeance M90 would be their gaming mouse entry.
And, as we'd likely ask, how well does this fare?
The design of the M90 is rather
interesting. It doesn't aim for the overtly rugged or stylistic approach; the
design here is simple, matte-black-over-silver-pads aesthetics that works. It
feels good under the hands, and glides smoothly enough on most surfaces. It's
quite weighty, but not too unwieldy. In fact, we deem it at the right sort of
weight for most users.
The interesting part is the sheer amount of
buttons on the M90. There are a total of 15 programmable buttons on the mouse.
Not including standard left-right-middle buttons, there are 9 macro keys
designed on the thumb area, two more at the left tip of the left mouse button
and one extra key on the top of the mouse.
The sheer amount of programmable buttons
are welcoming, but they're not exactly in the best placement. The macro keys,
in particular, might be designed around the thumb for easy access, but they're
all not easily accessible and some of them couldn't be pressed as easily as
others. It'll take a lot of getting used to.
The rest of the mouse is otherwise
perfectly done. By default, the two keys at the top corner are for on-the-fly
DPI adjustments, which is a plus. The tracking of the mouse is fantastic, the
experience smooth and natural. It's about as good as it gets.
There is, of course, the matter of the
mouse's software, which is well done. You can add and save profiles (which can
be stored on the mouse, letting you carry your preferences to other PCs),
manage your macros and lift height of the mouse (another great feature to
have). There's even a feature to let you gauge your surface's quality.
