We have an occasion to experience directly
N56V – Asus’s laptop of model 2012.
In terms of configuration, users can
optimize the processing strength of N56 flexibly based on their demands/budgets.
This laptop is equipped with standard configuration (Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge,
Ram 4GB, 500GB memory storage, NVIDIA GeForce 600 series graphics card and
15.6-inch screen at 1366 x 768). In addition, a prominent trait is the
high-quality B&O speaker system, too good for a 15-inch laptop.

For design, this laptop has a harmonious
appearance. The cover and frame are made of aluminum. The lid is covered with a
brown scratchy aluminum layer. Although it is simple, it creates friction that
helps holding better. Asus logo has a LED inside that will shine when the
laptop is turned on. The front side has only the alert lights and SD slot. The
left side is equipped with connection port such as USB 3.0, HDMI, LAN, VGA and
cooling slot. The right path contains 2 USB 3.0 ports and Blu-ray player. The
number of ports is adequate to use for V56 although it lacks of advanced ports
such as eSATA, DisplayPort, ThunderBolt, etc.
The most out-standing point may be the
keyboard area and palm rest. This laptop owns a full-sized keyboard, including
QWERTY keys on the left and number keys on the right. They are located next to
each other without being separated, delivering a harmonious feeling. As stated
above, most of the cover is made of aluminum so N56 has certain solidity at a
general glance. This helps the chick-let keyboard get rid of flex phenomenon
(the surrounding areas sink when pressing a key). The touchpad is designed for
more convenience. The left and right mouse buttons are made concealed.

The B&O speaker is the best thing about
this laptop. Although the volume is not extreme, the sound quality is very
excellent to compensate. It is rarely broken when turned loud and 80% is the
most idea limit. Asus offered a free tiny sub-speaker with the diameter of 5 cm
from Sonic Master. This tiny one does not need a sub-source. You just need to
plug it into the 2.5 mm jack on the side for instant use. It will supplement
the bass sounds that B&O lacks. When in combination, this tiny mini 2.5
speaker gave an impressive result. However, it is the speaker for a laptop so
it will have some disadvantages. For examples, it has troubles with the volume
and details levels. These drawbacks will be manifested the most clearly when we
play the classical symphonies with the interference of different kinds of
musical instruments. Sounds will be tangled and lose their details. It is
possible that Asus N56V’s speaker is more suitable for Pop/Ballad songs.
Full HD screen of N56V will offer a
comfortable and large using space with good brightness. However, the colors
shown are not really impressive; it delivers a feeling of coldness because it
is blue-stained. In addition, the hem is quite thick so it directly raises the
screen dimensions.
