Samsung has participated in market of
high-quality dual-SIM smartphone by model Galaxy Grand Duos with the price of $425.
Galaxy Grand Duos has the similar design as
Galaxy S III but bigger size with 5-inch screen and resolution only 800x480
pixel instead of HD on Galaxy Note II or S III.
Samsung
Grand Duos is strategic product of Samsung in segment of dual-SIM smartphone.
Its screen is LCD, not AMOLED as senior
models of Samsung today; however, display quality and colors of Grand Duos are
more realistic and beautiful than Galaxy S III, only sharpness is not good
because of low resolution.
Model supported with 2 SIMs has full of
connections. 1.2 GHz dual-core professor, RAM 1GB, internal memory 8GB which
can be spread by memory card up to 64 GB. Configuration of Grand Duos is lower
than that of Galaxy S III, but with this configuration, Grand Duos can run on
heavy apps and surf the net quite fast and smoothly.
Grand Duos’ camera has 8-megapixel resolution
like Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. It operates on Android 4.1.
Design and screen
Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos can be seen as
big S III with 5-inch screen. Because of supporting of dual-SIM and big size,
it is thicker than S III but we can be still held and used easily with one hand
by round-designed back.
5-inch
screen
Back lid is plastic, has patterns and the
same colors as front side. The frame is made from plastic, too and panted metal
colors; however, quality of processing is not really good.

Details as sensors, loudspeakers, buttons,
and camera are arranged like S III.
Samsung designs 2 SIM-trays under back lid,
in which SIM 2 can assemble quickly without opening the lid because it is put
privately at the bottom.

separate SIM-trays
For screen, Galaxy Grand Duos uses LCD one
instead of AMOLED like S III or Note II, and resolution of screen is only 800 x
480 pixel. Strong points of LCD screen are wide viewing angles, more realistic
and nicer colors than that of AMOLED. However, because of low resolution, it
still happen checkered pixel on icons.
Features and camera
This smartphone runs on Android 4.12 OS
with familiar TouchWiz interface of Samsung.

Galaxy Grand Duos has full of features of S
III like Smart Stay – keeping track of movement of eyes through infrared sensor
and always let the screen light when users are looking at it; that avoids
inconvenience by turning of screen while reading news or long stories.
Another function showing ability of
multitasking and advantage of large screen on smartphone of Samsung is Pop-up
Play, which allows users both to watch video and surf the net and Facebook, or
text messages. This is the strong point of large-screen smartphone, and demonstrates
actually multitasking function. While watching video, if you want to search for
information concerning that film, or take a new message, or update Facebook,
you do not have to pause the video, push on the button on the right corner of
screen instead. Then video will be zoomed out but big enough to continue seeing
that film while comfortably using other applications.
Keyboard
interface with SIM 1, SIM 2
A feature that helps Galaxy Grand Duos
different from S III is to be equipped 2 SIMs in which SIM 1 supports 3G
connection. Phoning quality of both SIMs is very good, managing SIM 1 and SIM 2
is simple and easy to use.
Camera has 8-megapixel resolution with
flash led as S III. Quality of pictures is good in many different conditions of
light. Approximately 425 USD, Grand Duos is one of the models that own the best
camera because there is no difference of picture quality between it and S III.
Performance and battery
The configuration includes dual-core
professor, together with RAM 1 GB, Grand Duos can run perfectly all basic
applications. It phones, surfs the internet, sends messages, and watches video
fast, does not stop and lag unless you play games having heavy graphic.

Battery
length is also a good point of this smartphone

smartphone. Model is equipped 2,100 mAh battery equal to S III; however,
because of using dual-core professor and low-resolution screen, its length of
battery is better than S III. You can be comfortable to use Grand Duos to
phone, text messages, surf the internet, and access social networks almost a
day long without worrying out of power.
