Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos - High-Quality Dual-SIM Smartphone

Samsung has participated in market of high-quality dual-SIM smartphone by model Galaxy Grand Duos with the price of $425.

Galaxy Grand Duos has the similar design as Galaxy S III but bigger size with 5-inch screen and resolution only 800x480 pixel instead of HD on Galaxy Note II or S III.

Its screen is LCD, not AMOLED as senior models of Samsung today; however, display quality and colors of Grand Duos are more realistic and beautiful than Galaxy S III, only sharpness is not good because of low resolution.

Model supported with 2 SIMs has full of connections. 1.2 GHz dual-core professor, RAM 1GB, internal memory 8GB which can be spread by memory card up to 64 GB. Configuration of Grand Duos is lower than that of Galaxy S III, but with this configuration, Grand Duos can run on heavy apps and surf the net quite fast and smoothly.

Grand Duos’ camera has 8-megapixel resolution like Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. It operates on Android 4.1.

Design and screen

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos can be seen as big S III with 5-inch screen. Because of supporting of dual-SIM and big size, it is thicker than S III but we can be still held and used easily with one hand by round-designed back.

Back lid is plastic, has patterns and the same colors as front side. The frame is made from plastic, too and panted metal colors; however, quality of processing is not really good.

Details as sensors, loudspeakers, buttons, and camera are arranged like S III.

Samsung designs 2 SIM-trays under back lid, in which SIM 2 can assemble quickly without opening the lid because it is put privately at the bottom.

For screen, Galaxy Grand Duos uses LCD one instead of AMOLED like S III or Note II, and resolution of screen is only 800 x 480 pixel. Strong points of LCD screen are wide viewing angles, more realistic and nicer colors than that of AMOLED. However, because of low resolution, it still happen checkered pixel on icons.

Galaxy Grand Duos has full of features of S III like Smart Stay – keeping track of movement of eyes through infrared sensor and always let the screen light when users are looking at it; that avoids inconvenience by turning of screen while reading news or long stories.

Another function showing ability of multitasking and advantage of large screen on smartphone of Samsung is Pop-up Play, which allows users both to watch video and surf the net and Facebook, or text messages. This is the strong point of large-screen smartphone, and demonstrates actually multitasking function. While watching video, if you want to search for information concerning that film, or take a new message, or update Facebook, you do not have to pause the video, push on the button on the right corner of screen instead. Then video will be zoomed out but big enough to continue seeing that film while comfortably using other applications.

A feature that helps Galaxy Grand Duos different from S III is to be equipped 2 SIMs in which SIM 1 supports 3G connection. Phoning quality of both SIMs is very good, managing SIM 1 and SIM 2 is simple and easy to use.

Camera has 8-megapixel resolution with flash led as S III. Quality of pictures is good in many different conditions of light. Approximately 425 USD, Grand Duos is one of the models that own the best camera because there is no difference of picture quality between it and S III.

Performance and battery

The configuration includes dual-core professor, together with RAM 1 GB, Grand Duos can run perfectly all basic applications. It phones, surfs the internet, sends messages, and watches video fast, does not stop and lag unless you play games having heavy graphic.
