iPhone, iPod touch and iPad : VSCO CAM

Another day, another photo app. Instagram fulfills most people’s needs when it comes to photo processing, but there are a number of other that are either just as good, are almost as good, offer something different or just don’t match up. VSCO CAM is probably just as good, maybe even better.

Description: VSCO CAM

VSCO CAM

VSCO CAM is stylish and less complex than most other photo apps, while still packing a punch. It’s the simplicity that has the most going for it as developers, Visual Supply, have deliberately targeted those that just want a cool looking image without having to fool around with too many options.

For the cost of 99c users get 10 filters, and the ability to alter exposure, contrast, fill, saturation, and even color temperature. Instagram of course allows users to share through their own social network but VSCO CAM doesn’t attempt these lofty ambitions with sharing up to the user through Facebook, Twitter and email.

Originally cropping was not included but this has thankfully been added in a recent update and hopefully rotation and frames will follow suit. The user interface is clean and impressive, as are the results of the images once the effects have been applied. The controls, however, are somewhat strange to begin with and could be more intuitive, but with time it starts to feel normal and VSCO CAM proves itself to be a very good photo app.
