HC-V700
HC-V700 is at top of one-sensor Panasonic
camcorder line. Instead of the 3 1/4.1-inch MOS sensor of HC-X900 and HC-X800 has
higher specification, or 1/5.8-inch sensor of the HC-V500, HC-V700 has a 1/2.33-inch
image sensor. There is 21X zoom and excellent optical antivibration of
Panasonic. Camcorder does not have viewfinder but the enthusiasts will be
pleased with accessory shoe adapter and 3.5mm microphone input.
HC-V700 is slightly larger than HC-V500,
but it is still extremely portable camcorder. Whether it’s compact, it is still
sturdy and strong enough to survive through the abuse of the most violent
member of the house, so you do not need to worry about carrying it along.
In general, we impress the camcorder
footage, which is significantly better than HC-V500, although it’s not as
beautiful as video created from three sensors of HC-X800 and HC-X900. Sensor of
camcorder can take picture at high-level details, if you stop the scene and
research it carefully, you can see some texture and clarity is disappearing
from the specific objects. The level of detail reduces in 25-30m distance from
the lens. For example, on the scene of HC-X800 and HC-X900, we can see the
stain and plaster of a brick wall in 30 meters distance; the similar wall in
HC-V700 video does not detail like that.
However, sharper scenes are recorded by
HC-V500, and you have to look closely to see the lack of detail when compared
to the 3-sensor model of the Panasonic model 3. Accurate color, but the
reflective surfaces are flat, such as flagstones, signs and brick walls can
become a single light table with little texture or detail recorded in daylight.
One area that single big sensor has more advantage than 3 small sensor camera
of Panasonic 3MOS line is recording in low light conditions, HC-V700 shows less
interference. As we expected, the optical antivibration system of camcorder has
done a good job in eliminating vibration, even we filming while walking.
HC-V700 camcorder is impressive but it does
not have convenient position in Panasonic product line. The normal users want a
high-quality camcorder can be served better by HC-V500, which you can buy with
only $ 197. Some enthusiasts will want to spend more for 3-sensor HC-X800 and have
better picture quality, but you will have no accessory shoe and external
microphone input. If you want impressive image quality and the ability to use
external accessories, and you can not afford HC-X900, this is the camcorder for
you.
