Handling
The S3500’s barrel, made of metal, is very
compact, small and light enough for you to carry along when hanging out with
friends. Nikon has tried to increase the optic zoom while keeping the camera’s
dimensions and weight not much different. There are not many ways of grip,
although there is an area for you to lay your right hand thumb on at the back
side of the camera.
The 2.7 in screen is quite small with low
resolution of 230k dot, making it hard to view under bright conditions. The
buttons are very typical for a compact camera, including a dedicated video
record button at the back of the product. Other ones include scene mode,
playback, menu and delete as well as d-pad for navigating through the menu. It
is also functioned of setting timing, flash, light compensation and macro mode.
The
battery life is about 220 according the CIPA test
The menu of the S3500 is easy to get
familiar and control. According to the CIPA test, the battery is about 220
shots, which is enough for a day of shooting. We tested the camera’s
performance in focus function, release shutter, shot-to-shot time, continuous
shooting etc. The results are showed below. In order to test this camera, we
took 6 shots or more, and then came up with the average. Following is the
consistent result that we have recorded.
·
Shutter Response: 0.175 sec
·
Wide - Focus / Shutter Response: 0.5 sec
·
Full zoom - Focus / Shutter Response: 0.55 sec
·
Switch on Time to Taking a Photo: 2.75 sec
·
Shot to Shot without Flash: 4.6 sec
·
Shot to Shot with Flash: 6.4 sec
·
Continuous Shooting: 0.9 fps
The continuous shooting mode records at 12
megapixel resolution. When shot-to-shot mode is used, the S3500 performs quite
slowly.
