The 2013 CeS unveiled Some big TeChand even
bigger expectations. Some of the best (and the worst) bits of kit from the eyes
of stuff...
1. Monster Ka Tana
Like all things Monster, the Katana is said
to be louder and lower than the competition. Which basically means you can turn
up the volume and feel the bass, what did you think? The Bluetooth apt-X module
that’s built-in means it can stream hi-resolution codecs like AAC without any
stutter. Monster’s Dynamic Presence Enhancement circuitry, along with the
tri-amplified, 3-way speaker system, allows it to sound full-bodied at
virtually any volume level.

2. Vivitek QUMI Q-7
Its diminutive size packs in quite a punch.
The LED Pico projector from Vivitek is not only small enough to fit in the palm
of your hand but while it’s there; it will also convert 2D content to 3D via
its built-in upscaler. That doesn’t mean it will alienate business users. It
may only be limited to 720p resolution but the clever inclusion of Microsoft
Office and Adobe PDF document reader widens its appeal to suits, ties and
everything in between. Perfect for a long vacation too!

3. Samsung Chronos7
Stuffing a 15.6in ultrabook right up to its
gills will give you something that looks like the Samsung Chronos 7. Its
10-point touchscreen is 1920x1080 capable and is partnered to a backlit
keyboard. Together they will push you to have an 11-hour work day and just so
you can get more done during your lunch break, the Chronos comes equipped with
a RAM accelerator that boosts speeds of specific apps and the browser by up to
150 percent!

4. Huawei Ascend Mate
Not to be outdone by the Galaxy Note’s
mammoth screen, Huawei decided on a little one-upmanship with the Ascend Mate.
Its palm-stretching 6.1in 720p screen uses Magic Touch tech that works even
while wearing gloves. The ultra-high capacity battery rated at 4050mAh is said
to last up to two whole days under normal use. Other stand-out features include
the Guiding Wizard that shows the navigation overlayed on the camera screen.

5. Sony XBR-55X900A
Sense of Quartz is the new design language
Sony has adopted for its 2013 range of Ultra HD TVs. Using the X-Reality engine
along with a TRILUMINOS LED backlighting; the picture really pops on this
3840x2160 pixel screen. What makes it really cutting edge though, are the
magnetic fluid speakers flanking the screen that aim to deliver a sound that’s
as impressive as the picture. Only a thorough test will reveal its true
potential.

6. Griffin PowerDock 5
What? You only have one Apple device in
your household? Not only can’t you be eligible for our subscription, but you
also can’t indulge in this extremely quirky contraption. For the obsessive
charger, the Griffin PowerDock 5 can charge up to five devices simultaneously,
with a clear backrest for each. Wide enough for five iPads to charge with their
cases too, this is clearly aimed at Dr. Evil planning a global attack on
Google.

7. Samsung DA-F60
A sexy slab of steel and aluminum
machining, the DA-F60 might look like just another portable wireless speaker.
But listening to it changes your impression instantly. Inspired by proper
hi-fi, the neodymium drivers and tuned port ensure minimum distortion while
sounding larger than it has the right to. Bluetooth APT-X and NFC keep it up to
date with the dating procedures required to mate with modern smartphones. This
one we do hope makes it to India. Soon.

8. Samsung Nx300
So you haven’t made your version of Avatar yet,
but Samsung is about to make it easier for this miracle to happen with the
world’s first 3D camera with interchangeable lens that does 3D stills and Full
HD 3D movie! A sensational shutter speed of 1/6000 second and a Hybrid AF
system mean it will be your best buddy during the next Indian GP at the Buddh
circuit. The 3.1in AMOLED tilt display allows for even more creative angles.

9. Samsung F8000
Keeping the trend of showcasing its
flagship display technology at the CES alive, Samsung announced that the F8000
will be its new top-of-the-line range of LED televisions. Using Samsung’s
proprietary Micro Dimming Ultimate technology, it will offer better colors,
deeper blacks and a wider viewing angle in 3D mode. A variety of sizes will be
made available all the way from 46in to 75in, each with bezel only a quarter of
an inch thick.

10. Monster Easports
In its bid to cover every headphone
application possible, Monster has tied up with game developer EA Sports for a
carbon-fiber studded headphone with High Definition Headphone Surround (HDHS),
a processing technology powered by Astound Sound. Using this tech and the Game box
mix amplifier and processor, Monster aims to provide a gaming headphone like
never before. It makes us want to cue up our old, dusty Tomb Raider disc again.
