11. Panasonic Dmc-ZS30
The LUMIX range from Panasonic keeps
bringing us closer to DSLR level of photography but the ZS30 goes a step
further by proclaiming itself as the world’s most advanced compact cam. The 20x
optical zoom, 18.1MP sensor, 24mm Leica lens are standard fare specs but the
built-in Wi-Fi, NFC and remote shooting will let you use your tablet to
compose, trigger a shot and upload it to LUMIX Club Cloud Sync simply by
tapping it on a compatible internet device.

12. Ipotty
Your toddler might need more bowel
stimulation than you ever thought. Or at least that’s what the makers of this
cockamamie contraption would have us believe! Mounted atop a mini potty, the
iPad holder ensures that an app keeps your little angel engaged while he or she
is going about their smelly business. What is really fascinating is that,
strangely, we find this to be just as useful for adults, given the compulsion
we have to take our gadgets everywhere.

13. Panasonic 4K Tablet
It was clearly the year of 4K- everything.
Seeing the massive resolution of 3840x2560 on a 20in handheld device was unreal
though. Panasonic is aiming this Windows 8 Pro tablet at professionals who need
Ultra HD resolutions on the job and sales might begin later this year. The 2
hour battery life and 2.5kg weight might limit its portability but it more than
makes up in the thinness department. Just ensure that your job justifies its
asking price.

14. Jabra Revo wireless
Have had your share of headphones already?
We insist on presenting one more only because this one’s a bit special. The
Revo Wireless from Jabra features Dolby Digital Plus and when used in
conjunction with the Sound App for iOS or Android, it aims to create a richer
listening experience from compressed audio files. Jabra prides itself in making
them drop-proof yet comfortable for long hours to use. That doesn’t mean you
can keep them on during a bungee jump.

15. Case Mate
iPhones are worth their weight in gold in
most markets so it’s only logical why protective cases are so much in demand.
But rather than spoiling Sir Jony Ive’s masterpiece with cheap plastic, Case Mate
has designed immaculate wood finish cases that use real wood grains from exotic
forests and embellish them with hand-brushed aluminum. All sounds fine and
dandy, but we still can’t do it to our iPhones. But if you absolutely must,
these are the best.

16. Audi E-Tron Lemans
The hybrid version of the legendary LeMans
R18, the e-Tron Quattro uses a reduced capacity V6 turbodiesel engine and a
500kJ motor that is activated only at speeds above 120kmph. The full-LED
headlights are a first for a LeMans racer and are designed to replicate the
number 1 digit. Judging by Audi’s LeMans success in recent times, it does seem
that the Germans have a sense of humor after all. Electric cars don’t always
look boring.

17. Huawei Ascend W1
Not every product is a high-end indulgence
at the CES. Huawei showed off its modest roots with its first-ever Windows 8
phone, the W1. Decidedly entry-level with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP
snapper and a 4in 480x800 screen, it doesn’t shout cutting edge but makes a
mark as a considerable option against the cheaper Lumias. The bright colors are
a page from Nokia again and while not as sturdy, add a dash of color.

18. Polaroid Z2300
If you were born in the ’60s, you will be
attached to this little number. The Polaroid printable camera is back, this
time using an inkless printing procedure dubbed ZINK. The tiny 2x3in prints
won’t be poster quality but do open up a world of creatively using stamp-sized
pictures. It’s helped by a peel-off back that essentially makes every print a
sticker. The basic specs of 10MP, 3in LCD screen and USB port suggest how basic
and fun it really is.

19. Panasonic Lumix Ts5
Arnold Schwarzenegger never kept a record
of the events that occurred in the predator-infested jungle. But if he did,
this is the camera he would use. Waterproof to 43ft, shockproof from drops up
to 6.6ft in height and useable in sub-zero temperatures, it would’ve even
recorded the alien’s movement in time lapse mode. The one-touch HD movie is
handy too for those tricky moments where you can’t be spotted under the alien’s
infra-red vision.

20. Audi 3d Sound
If the Bang & Olufsen audio system in
the A8 saloon was a concert hall on wheels, the new concept that Audi showcased
in its next-gen Q7 SUV is being hailed as a concert hall with a roof on wheels.
The additional height speakers mounted on the A and C pillars of the demo SUV
increased the spatial information in any recording, immediately making the
cabin seem much larger than its actual dimensions. Expect it to feature in this
summer’s Q7.
