Enermax T.B.SILENCE (UCTB12A)

The Enermax T.B.SILENCE is boxed similarly as the above-mentioned Cooler Master.

The packaging

The packaging

You can see the model name and icons showing key features on the front side of the inside paper. Specs are listed in the detail on the back.

The fan comes with a PATA power adapter, screws and the speed controller’s dual-sided scotch.

The accessories

The accessories

The product is made in China and priced at $14 plus a 1-year warranty.

The fan looks quite beautiful with its holed black glossy frame and 9-blade impeller colored matte.

The product’s image

The product’s image

It weighs only 102g, becoming the lightest fan in this review.

Designed with the unique Batwing style, the impeller’s diameter is 110mm. The motor’s is 41mm. The frame’s interior is carved with the word “Enermax”. Besides beauty effect, this solution improves the airflow by letting the air in through holes.

The Enermax T.B.SILENCE’s fan speed can be manually set at from 800 to 1,500RPM to change its airflow from 37.6 to 71.3CFM and static pressure from 0.72 to 1.68mm of water. The noise level is 10dBA (at the minimum speed, of course).

There’s a few useful information on sticker on the motor.

Power specs

Power specs

Besides the power specs (12V, 0.3A, 3.6W), we notice the bearing technology. The Twister is an Enermax-patented design that has been used for 3 years. It features prolonging the service life of ball bearings (100,000h according to the specs) with the low noise level.

The startup voltage is not available yet we will measure it later. The cable is 490mm long.

Enermax T.B.SILENCE PWM (UCTB12B)

Enermax introduces a fan which is regulated by PWM technology – the T.B SILENCE version. Its packaging differs with the colored paper inside.

The packaging

The packaging

We are sure there’re no speed controller here when other accessories are the same.

The accessories

The accessories

The PWM version doesn’t look externally different from the original Enermax T.B.SILENCE. The impeller and frame are the same.

The highest speed is similar – 1,500 RPM. The lowest speed of the PWM version is 500RPM. Hence, the minimum noise is only 8 instead of 10dBA. There are no other differences except for the numbers on the sticker and the slightly higher power consumption.

The impeller is removable, like with the original Enermax T.B.SILENCE.

After detaching, you can see the complicated coils and two capacitors.

There are bonding cushion pads for LEDs on the PCB. Enermax’s striking fans are also based on this platform, too.

The cable is 490mm long. RRP is $15.

GELID WING 12 PL (FN-FW12BPL-18)

The GELID WING 12 PL is boxed into a plastic box separate space for its accessories. The paper’s text tells you about Nano Bearings technology and PWM adjustment. Plus, technical specs are also listed here.

The packaging

The packaging

The accessories include screws, silicone pins and a sticker showing off the company’s logo.

The accessories

The accessories

Like most of the fans in the review, the GELID WING 12 PL is made in China. It is more expensive with a RRP of $22, plus a 3-year warranty.

The GELID WING 12 PL has a pretty impeller with translucent color but it is the product which is having smaller and smaller blades than above-mentioned models.

The impeller

The impeller

Obviously, its 9-blade impeller’s diameter is 109mm. The motor is also small and 39mm in diameter while the fan’s weight is 121g.

The tips of the blades are bent.

The fan viewed from a tilt angle

The fan viewed from a tilt angle

This slows down turbulence in the space between the blades and the frame so that noise is reduced too. Additionally, GELID claims that such blades produce a static pressure at a higher level. It’s true that the fan has a static pressure of 2.66mm of water at the maximum 1,800RPM speed. This figure is much higher than the Cooler Master Turbine Master MACH1.8’s static pressure at the same speed. The strongest airflow is 75.6CFM while the noise level is believed to be under 26.8dBA. The fan supports PWM-based speed adjustment. Its slowest speed is 600RPM.

The fan’s Nano Bearings technology uses materials with the lowest abrasiveness, so it has a 100,000-hour longevity and works fluently. The GELID WING 12 PL is by no mean special, with reference to its power consumption, 5.4W at 0.45A.

Power specs

Power specs

The cable’s length is around 0.5m. The four LED lights make the GELID WING 12 PL more eye-catching.
