Mionix NAOS 8200 Mouse - A Beanbag For Your Hand

8/12/2013 6:01:39 PM

Price: $90

After using the slender lines of the Razer Sensei, the flat pancake of a mouse that is the NAOS 8200 took a lot of getting used to. We’ve never seen a mouse so big, and our entire hand comfortably fits on the shaped finger supports. It’s so comfortable for extended periods of use, that we’re considering using this as our day to day mouse.

Stashed away inside is a 32-bit ARM processor and 8200 DPI laser sensor – the highest sensitivity available. 128KB of memory – twice that of the Commodore 64 allows for on-board storage of macros, not to mention fancy lighting profiles to make the onboard LCD lighting change color, or blink and pulse. A total of 7 buttons are built into the mouse, which includes the clickable scroll wheel and twin DPI adjustment buttons. If only it had a button or two for pinky fingers it’d be perfect, but the existing buttons are all within easy reach.

When used in combination with the super sexy Mionix Ensis 320 aluminum mouse pad, performance was absolutely top notch. There’s even a surface monitoring feature, which tells you the quality of your mouse pad, and the Ensis 320 scored a perfect 100%. Running it side-by-side with eth SteelSeries Sensei, it was impossible to notice a difference in the performance of the two a rare occurrence!

A couple of extra buttons might have been nice, but this is still a fantastic mouse regardless. The width might take some getting used to, but if you’re looking for an ergonomic mouse with wonderful performance, look no further.

·         Excellent sensor

·         Surface analyzing tool

·         Very comfortable

·         Needs a couple more buttons

·         No side scroll on scroll wheel

Verdict: 9/10

The NAOS 8200 is a premium mouse that doesn’t forgo ergonomics for perfect performance.
